Fla Gal, I air the house just as much as I can. But there are times that it must be shut up and then I feel much worse. I try to avoid plastics and vinyl, but it is well nigh impossible. Everything gets washed and left outside to outgas as long as possible before coming into the house too.

A couple of yrs ago I actually began to perspire for the first time in many yrs. I used to get really hot, but not be able to perspire. Sweating is a main form of detox so I'm really glad to be able to do it.

I think a lot of my trouble started with pesticides . I can remember as a child watching my mom and grandma spraying black flag on a fly and the stuff would drift over the dining table and into the food. I think they tried to drown the flies with the stuff. Certainly would have been easier to swat the fly anyhow! My mother was also a clean freak and used all sorts of chemicals to clean that always made me sick.

I was already having major problems with chemical sensitivities when I started chemo. Don't think that helped any!

Interestingly enough, many people respond quite well with mcs, or fm, or cfs, to certain antidepressents. My dr said it is possibly because those specific antidepressents are also potent antihistamines. When I was on remeron for depression, I had NO histamine reactions. When I use beconase and nighttime otc cheap benedryl, half dose, I have NO depression without antidepressents. Clearly there is some connection.

1- My DH Army doc says MCS is probably similar to Gulf War Syndrome- and that's the mainline feeling in the military

2- I was a lot less depressed on starting antihistamines 2 years ago- maybe not treating depression but finally sleeping instead of coughing all night....

My dad (oilfield worker) was thoroughly doused pulling a well before I was conceived, and he developed oil poisoning. I think my many allergies (inhalation, contact, food, and histamine responses to sadness, joy, etc) stem from that. I try to eat healthy, whole food (low chemical but not organic), use an air purifier, dress in what doesn't itch or bind, launder carefully and avoid fabric softener, and then "mop up" by treating whatever symptoms emerge. That may mean cortisone creme, plain vasoline, olive oil, claritin (gives me insomnia so I dislike taking it all the time), use beconase or like med, and if I start getting depressed in rag weed season, run the ac more and take more allergy med. I consider myself a generally healthy old lady with a few weird responses. Perfume makes me sick, but I am all for other's enjoyment of it. I just thank the good Lord that there are effective treatments for the symptoms when they come, and get on with having fun.

And having lived in company trailers, those things (especially cheaper or older ones) seem to emit all kinds of noxious gases. That said, we built and sold a log home, as just being inside it gave me head to toe eczema. Give me sheetrock, or give me death! LOL!

it is sad what we humans have done to the earth, our home, ourselves, our children.
