Too far plus Oregon land prices are going too high and it's rainy in some areas. No thanks.

Personally, I wish more folks felt like BR and Donsgal... then maybe there wouldn't be so many folks in the Mountain West!

I loved it when we lived there. We moved when the mine shut down back in 83`.We lived close to Rocky Mt. State park in Empire,Clear Creek County.Land was very expensive even then.People were cool though, real friendly.
I must say I like the eastern mt`s better.I like the all the green we have here.

Colorado Springs - Lots of Military and lots of Christians. Smaller feel to the town but it seems awfully spread out to me and rather dumpy overall. Much closer to the front range than Denver, so winter can be a bit harsher...sorry but i have lived in the springs for over 25 years and denver usually gets the snow that misses us down here[QUOTE].

if you are considering a move i suggest a long visit if possible, this city has grown quickly and there are parts that are very unattractive, this city is concerned with growth and seems to neglect the older parts of town, more people less water for them to use, thats been an issue for decades and only gets worse. for a few years we had a lawn watering schedule and no car washing or water sprinklers for the kids to play in.

colorado is a beautiful place, but i agree the mountains i see (pikes peak) snow and no snow, i guess the aspens add some color but nothing like a minnesota autumn. another thing is that we have a great deal of violence, gangs, and a big meth problem. i like the warm but sometimes it gets to be too much when it is over 90 for weeks at a time and i do have the dry skin problem.

there are many pros and cons to living here i am still here but am getting very tired of big city living. gl on your move

Don't let anyone tell you that Colorado isn't great! We get 315 days of sun each year here, more than Florida. Our air is some of the cleanest and our water is best out of the tap. People are very kind and welcoming. With IT, you could always work remotely.

I'm not that fond of sunshine, to be perfectly honest with you. I always thought it would be kind of nice to live in the Pacific Northwest because I really love rain. You forgot to mention how, when the wind comes from the direction of the desert that it blows sage brush pollen/dander in and it causes your eyes to weep and swell and you sneeze uncontrollably for HOURS. And you also forgot to mention how (if you are above 6,000) you get out of breath getting out of bed in the morning. Going up stairs is next to impossible (unless you stop three times on the way up to catch your breath). The *only* good thing about Colorado is that you can get pleasantly plastered on one beer or glass of wine, if you consider that a good thing.

Funny, I've never had dry skin(that's a lack of EFAs in the diet not the climate) or allergy problem and lived in Colorado my whole life......but the water situation is big problem because of abuses in the controllers not the actual availability......in fact with the rains we had this spring and summer thousands of acre feet flowed out of the state. It's a corrupted situation.

I have to agree with Marilyn. I've lived here for over 25 years and never had any problems. If you don't like sunshine then move to Alaska for the winter!

I grew up in Yuma County until I was mid-teens. Rolling hills with sagebrush, wheat fields and centerpivot irragation.

Moved to Loveland for a few years. Explored the mountains a bit.

When I retired from the AF, I could have gone anywhere. 7600 miles after I left NC, I pulled into Anchorage. Don't know where else I would want to live other than south central AK.
