Best of luck to you and your family's life in "the Region"!

No kidding close by. I'm right off of Gibson Rd past the Co-op. I see that if we're lucky we'll only be able to hold out for 10-15 yrs before development takes over and forces us out. But until then its homestead like its 1999

Hey all,
Just wanted to post a quick question. Where are we meeting at in McCormicks Creek? Which recreational area, or picnic area? Also, we are expecting to bring three people with us. Me, my wife, and my son. Thanks, and see all of you hopefully next weekend!

Hi all you Hoosiers, I'm new to this site and saw this thread. I'm from Crawfordsville 45 minutes west of indy. We own a New Holland/Kubota/Woods dealership (farm equipment) here in town. We own goats, chickens and ducks. My In laws came from the Fishers/Nobelsville area. Still have several relatives that live there. Boy you are right about Carmel area it is so developed anymore. My mother in law grew up when she was real young across from Conner Prairie. Father in laws family used to farm in the fishers area and they were bought out by developers too and you can not even tell there was a farm there now.

Just saw this thread. I'm about ten minutes south of McCormick's creek (for anyone close by you might be familiar with the red double-decker bus...look at the top of the hill and that's me.) My schedule wouldn't allow me to at least stop by and see what's up. I just found this site the other day and haven't integrated myself in yet. As I show up here more in the future I'll watch for such events.

I've got about 23 acres, woods, pasture, no natural surface water, rebuilding old...old....old...crappy house (not crappy anymore). Just starting the homesteading stuff. large garden, some new fruit trees, but no animals yet (or should I say livestock, as we have plenty of cats.) I have grand plans for this place, but, a subdued budget.

Been investigating the Bloomington farm markets. I would like to get into that, but, It will take time, focus, and networking. I still have to learn how to be consistent and prolific with production.

So, I'm going to try to show up here more often to help with the networking and to learn more about all this......stuff. I've been on alot of sites lately and realized I can't remember when or where, or to whom, I've posted. Think I'm going to stay here. It's alot more active.

Well, that just truly sucks. You're all going to be less than a mile from my house, but I won't get to meet any of you, as I work on Saturdays. In fact, my farm borders McCormicks Creek State Park on the north side near Wolf Cave. Well, have a good time and I'll wish for good weather for you. Jim.

CatsPaw, I know where the bus is. That's the most used landmark in Clay township. Ever buy any used building materials from Mark, just around the corner to the east? That guy has a little of everything. So many hills around there, I wouldn't know which one you live on.

The same hill the bus is on, Jim. Yeah, whenever someone asks where I live it's always..."Well, you know where the red double decker bus is?...." I oughta just get some t-shirts with that on it.

Never been to 1st saturday. When I have specific needs I don't buy salvage. Suppose I should visit them.

Actually, I'm quite surprised at the number of people in close proximity. All these little electrons flyin' around all over the place just to go practically next door.
