I'd put the glue on the cabinet, put the shim on the glue, glob a bit more on that and then put down the top. Is that ok?
I set the top on it just to see and it's going to look so good that now I HAVE to do something about that nasty old floor in there! I think I see cheapo indoor/outdoor carpet in my future until I have enough for the new vinyl I want. I don't like carpet in a bathroom (especially with boys in the house), but it will work for now.

Cultured marble needs as much support as you can give it. Other wise it can break. What you can do is shim it till its where you want it. Then take it off and squeeze silicone caulk on top of the vanity ( the top edges of the boards) and set the top on that. let it dry and it should be fine. Make sure its where you want it. Taking a top off after its silicone is not a pretty site. You can use denatured alcohol to clean up with.
AS for the floor why don't you look around at the "pergo" type floor. You can get it pretty cheap and it works well. You don't have to be accurate around the edges with your cuts as its suppose to "float" . Then you put a quarter-round around the outside edges or other trim such as base board. Get the snap-together kind that is used in bathrooms. You can get it in wood, tile, and stone nowadays. Ask a lot of questions of the sales rep. If doesn't want to answer them find somebody ,somewhere else.
You can PM me if you have any questions

If you use a floating floor like Pergo in the bathroom or kitchen, you will have to run a bead of silicone to fill up the quarter inch gap between the flooring and the kick board on your cabinets and around the shower/baths. As TNHermit said, this gets covered up with quarter round trims.
This will help to keep any water spills from getting under the flooring and the silicone gives enough to allow the floor to still float. These tips and more are on the Pergo installation tape that I purchased. I figured that the $25 tape was well worth the instruction after I spent $2500 on the materials (not including my four days of vacation pay).

A cute thing like you and you don't how to hang a left hand reverse bevel door and install a parallel arm closure on it. All you need is a magnetic plumb bob, a few pozzi drive screws, an impact drill, some taps and dies and a ruler.
But don't let any body kid you about them heat treated lead hammers. They don't exist.

Most remodeling is a two-step process. 1) Do it the easiest way possible, 2) Relax and have a drink or two then inspect the job. If it doesn't seem right repeat step two as required until the problem is resolved.
Seriously, the advice about supporting a cultured marble or similar product adequately is well taken. The "eyeball" or "what looks right" advice is good too. In most remodeling (and often in new construction) square, level and straight are unfamiliar conditions.

Um - no. I've stained doors - does that count????? You are talking about doors - right?
See, now I've done it. I've admitted I can't do projects. I'll never be a true homesteader now
I can drive in T-posts, long as they don't have to be plumb, straight, or any other weird things Maybe that'll keep me from getting kicked off of here

Well your slogan says never never give up. SO i think if you believe that and have a learning attitude. You'll find a guy that will be willing to teach you. And some fun in the process. If you can laugh at your mistakes.
Then you can teach him to cook ,clean and sew LOL
But the way everybody limits themselves on what the will or wont do nowadays then they just start off in a tough way IMHO

I understand the good enough concept. I'm even guilty of practicing it occasionally.
But one of my mentors taught me that, that attitude was not good for me. Why? Because if you try and strive for the best you can when its not necessary you can learn things and be better for the time that it is necessary. So I remind myself of this when I just want to do good enough. And its has been a good and wise thing.
