ok, i'll boil some, bring the stuff to make em devilled-they'll travel safer boiled anyway, right? got most of the stuff packed-washing a couple more blankets and another load of clothes. kids are cleaning the kitchen-i hate coming home to a dirty kitchen. then i'm off to bed, and letting the kids stay up (they'll sleep on the way there ) when i wake up we'll do chores and hit the road. should be there between noon and 3pm.
jessie is much better-he slept most of the day at his grandmother's house, ate good food for lunch and supper, then she brought him home so she could see what to do for chores while we're gone. gotta love mama one more night....whooooohoooooo

It's 6:40AM ... waiting for LaDonna. Can't wait to see what she can accomplish with not only her stuff but also mine and Trent's....I swear I did try to cut back...guess I'd better decide what I absolutely positively have to have...if I let her decide I might end up with nothing to cook in, or no clothes to wear...or even worse nothing to sit on.

Bill and Russell are probably already there....waiting for us...and explaining to that semi-park ranger why they are there before our reserved sites are up for grabs.

Hope everyone has a safe trip.

Hugs
marlene

I'm afraid I have bad news. Joe's best friend from high school's dad passed away this week. He wants to support his friend in this difficult time so we're going to be attending the funeral tomorrow in NE Arkansas. I'm afraid this means we will not be attending the picnic tomorrow as planned. We will be thinking of you all. Hope you have a great weekend!

It is about 8:00 AM and Milt and I are ready to head out as soon as I shut this thing down.
See you that are going to be there in about three hours.
The rest of you, be good and play nice while we are away.
Miss us. Catch you later with a report on all the fun.
It is probably going to rain but I will bet that doesn't slow us down any at all.

I wish I could go I'm not even gonna be in the carribean! My truck broke down a bit over a week ago and has been in the mechanics shop. Gonna cost $800+ to get it fixed There went a huge chunk of my vacation money.....and without a truck I can't come to the picnic either. I think I'll sit here and cry for a while.

Ya'll have fun! Somebody better post pictures! Say hi to the pig for me

We are home!
The Sultan decided to take one of his famous short cuts home so it took 4 hours instead of the usual three but we are home and we think all the animals are ok.The donkey and alpaca are not here but this time of day they are usually up in the meadow where we can't see them. They will be back down later I am sure.

We had a wonderful time as always.
It rained most of the day yesterday but thanks to the shelter we take most of us stayed fairly dry. We got a lot of visiting done till the rain stopped last evening.

Stayed up talking around the fire till the wee hours this morning as usual so I slept most of the way home and now am down in the back. Must have slept in a bad position. Hurts like crazy but I will live.

Marlene, so sorry you had to go home early but hope you get well soon. We missed you.

We had 6 new ones come. I am so glad I got to meet you. Sorry I couldn't do anything about the rain or the cold but that fire sure felt good.
Needless to say , no one went swimming. The river was rolling muddy on Friday and Saturday but was clear again this morning.
That didn't seem to slow the boaters any though. They even had float trips in the rain and cold. Sure glad I was not in one of those boats. I would have injoyed the ride in one of the boats going upstream in the rolling water Friday though.

Bostonleslie, Oops! Sorry for being so deaf! Glad you got rescued finally!

obser and timeless, thanks for all the help and the good company. Sorry we didn't eat up all that bean soup you so thoughtfully made for us but as you saw we had way too much to chooze from. Looks like you will be eating soup for a while.LOL

Thanks to all of you that came, (and believe it or not there were a bunch of us after all,) for the good time.

Thanks for all the get well soon messages -- both here and on Rannie's thread on same get together topic. Nothing like a summer cold to make one miserable beyond belief. After stopping on the way back for more tissues, and some cough medicine...a hot shower, crawling in to bed, I had nearly 12 hours of rest - most of it sleep. Only woke up a couple of time for another doze of the cough stuff. Still don't have much of a voice, but I'm really feeling lots better...and no it's not just the cough stuff

I very much enjoyed my 1/2 of the campout....so happy to hear Don has adopted all of us, it's nice having you as part of this family of friends. Thanks for bring Sophia -- she is a doll. Dennis, we'll have to do the knitting demo next time?? Same to Corky on the loop thingy. Corky you and Milt are always such a great addition to our get togethers. I forgot to check to make sure Milt put up your tent by himself....come to think of it I'm sure he would have made mention of it if he did. Leslie, thanks for coming and for bring your son Scott, and his friend Cat....I'm sure ya'll will be taking the show on the road soon - great musical talent. Dave and Annie...I was almost home before I realized why ya'll seemed so familiar -- did you remember we met at an Estate Auction with your friends Jean and GoatLady?? It was a busy auction so no problem if you haven't remember it yet. Next time Dave can give a demo in meat caving -- I was very impressed with his work on laura's chickens and Rannie's ham.

I enjoyed all the kids that got to share the time with us -- they are all just wonderful -- even if I readily admit to being partial to Trent and Becca. (Their mother Tina is my neice ) And who wouldn't love the opportunity to be a kid again...I sure enjoyed playing with the bubble making toys...and the hike down to the river.

And jnap -- I think nearly everyone was honest ... there were several "maybes" and everyone else who did not get to make it let us know they were not going to be able to be with us this time...and didn't everyone of them say they hope to be with us in the fall if not next spring?? And in all honestly -- it would have been a bit much to expect people who had not spent time with us yet to spend much of the time in the inclement weather we experenced this weekend.

Thanks all of you who shared time with me....like has been mentioned before, I wish I would have had more time to visit with each of you more.

Counting the days until the fall campout.

Hugs
Marlene

drive with care

The party was fun, and as I predicted about 2 months ago " We Will HAVE WEATHER FOR THE CAMPOUT". Am I good or am I good ? Next time I will be more specific so we can have sun shine. Then, of course we will all turn red as beets and be peeling skin for a month. OH WELL: that is the life of a prognasticator.

I was suprised to note that Corky did not post about our highway experience. A member of the Arkansas Highway Patrol heard that the Sultan was in the area and wanted to meet me. I am not sure how he knew which vehicle that the Sultan would be traveling in. Perhaps it was seeing a GMC pickup ( a hummer with class) taking one of those curves at St Joe on 2 wheels. I am sure that would have been a good clue. Wrong! he said it was one of those new fangled gadgets on his dash that indicated ( incorrectly that my vehicle was traveling at the rate of 72 miles per hour. He should turn that unit in for a new one. When I saw him approaching, I looked at the speed o meter and it was fall from over 75 mph. I knew when he started to slow down and flashed those blue lights that he recognized the Sultan and wanted to meet me. I pulled off the road and waited while he made hi you turn. He was so excited that he forgot his autograph book and had to take my information back to his car. I reckon he got a chewing out good when he got on the radio and left headquarters know who he was visiting with. He got out of his car, straightened his smokey bear hat and proudly marched to my car and gave me back my license and insurance papers. He that handed me a piece of paper that he called " A WARNING". He, warning the Sultan!!! The paper had his name on it along with the address of his headquarters. Reckon he was thinking that the Sultan might stop by sometime and put in a good word with his boss. A nice young lad he was and I might just write his boss and suggest a promotion could be in order.
Corky was not too happy with the situatiion. She just doesn't understand the power of a Sultan and the effect it has on law enforcement officers. She got stopped once in her short driving life and was issued a citation that cost her $85.00. She claims to have been going 25 feet per hour over the 30 mile per hour limit. On the other hand the ALL GREAT AN POWERFUL SULTAN has been stopped several times for driving a little faster then usual and received no tickets. I too was stopped in Sulphur Springs,AR for exceeding the posted 30MPH limit. I was said to be going 12mph over the limit. I was not issued a ticket. I was stopped once near Kansas City on Kansas hwy 69 doing near 90 in a 65 mile zone. I got a nice " drive careful and slow it down a tad". Corky nearly died in disbelief that time.
Corky is correct even by pushing the limit a little it still took 1 hour longer to get home than it took to get to Tyler. She did not mention that the visit with Smokey too about 15 minutes and stopping to eat took 20 to 30 minutes.
Oh! Marlene .... better get Noah to resharpen that mower. When the sun breaks through you will have another foot of growth to your grass. Better yet; contact Laura for the loan of some half grown kids. The four legged kind.

The outing was fun, now I am getting things packed for our trip to Virginia next week end. Oh my what the Sultan won't do to keep his one remaining Harem girl. We will drive ( very carefully and within the approximate speed limits) to a little village near Lynchburg, VA. just to get a goat. Corky will have pictures of this valuable creature for all to see.

gotta go, got chores to do.

Sultan -- you sure you're not into your second (third?) childhood -- must be the mischievious twinkle in your eye that keeps you from getting ticketed for your speeding.

And just so you know, your last harem girl - already has pictures of that kid ya'll are going to pick up next weekend...I seen 'em myself -- he's just adorable. She even has pictures of his mother -- lovely side shot, and one from behind that only a person into milk goats can truly appreciate.

Hugs,
marlene
