thanks stickywitch, stalone may well use lifts... he is not very tall. it was almost three decades ago.

spoke with my buddy... he says never seek medical advice online..LOL. but gives a suggestion
let me see if i can get this right..., he says the human body can naturally compensate for up to a 1/4" difference in leg length before it starts to cause back pain, trouble etc... and suggests to try a 3/8"high insert in the one shoe... and to let ankle flex compensate for the remaining 1/4"......

or
try and find a local cobbler to cut n make a add-on sole.

Do not agree with your buddy on the body compensating for a number of reasons.
Find another cobbler.

well he knows his stuff... he works for Harry J Luwall in NE Philadelphia PA and practices in Northern NJ (a highly regulated state) where he services 5 hospitals..and makes hoouse calls. the main hospital being Mercer. His company has picked up entire Hospital contracts solely because of the quality of work he alone does. also, he has given lectures at conventions... like i said , he knows his stuff

Would Cabin Fever's idea not work if you cut 5/8" off the heel of the shoe that did not need a lift? (I assume he was serious about this idea. It sounds good to me).

My mom used to have a large lift (1.5") added to one shoe of her Dr. Scholls shoe's. I think you need to buy a shoe that can be resoled, but that doesn't have to be a special expensive shoe. She had it done by her regular full service shoe repair shop... not by a specialist. Hope this helps
