My sister had a raptor swoop down and grab a pomeranian right in front of her!

I never had a problem with hawks although I have seen a number of redtails and coopers hawks over the years. But owls dont even get me started! Great Horned for the most part. Pick my Geunias right out of the trees at night. I have lost ducks, chickens, anything white. Silkies were a disaster. One morning I ran out the door hearing a goose going nuts. As I came to the gate I see a Great Horned on top of a full grown Embden goose. The owl was gone as soon as it saw me. Just a shadow in the sky. The goose other than a few holes in her back made it out ok. but talk about getting the *@%$ scared out of yah.

In Alaska we had a problem with bald eagles. They are definitely magnificent birds, but they are so annoying to fishermen who use cast nets. Inevitably, every time we'd drag the net in, one or more eagles would be flying above, diving down and snatching up the biggest, healthiest fish that were caught in our nets. They even came around on the rivers when we'd pole fish. Steal a nice King right off your line.

We always had a good laugh, even though it really shouldn't be a very funny matter, whenever a tourist would bring their little chihuahua or similar-sized dog with them and lose it to an eagle. "Look at that cute little eagle-bait!" we'd say whenever we saw one of the little yippers.

Anyone watch Funniest Home Videos? There's one where a boy is playing with his hamster outside on a picnic table, and a hawk swoops down and snatches the poor rodent right out from under the kid's nose. Funny stuff.
