It does sound best, although if wind has to be 30 feet above trees (of which I have many), I'll have to purchase more acres before I put that in!

The Team is heading out from Backwoods Solar and moving
North, maybe as far as the Town of Bonners Ferry!

Scroll about halfway down the page to the picture of the helicopter taken at the owners house of Backwoods Solar.Pretty pic of 'some' of his modules in trackers.Who says solar doesnt pay, quite a spread eh?Somewhere there is another pic of modules, but I cant find it at this time.

Sorry,i couldnt get the pic to link so you will have to go to site to see it.

That was an "excerpt" from some camper's blog. It was posted to show the solar tracking arrays at Backwoods Solar.

Remember Steve W (backwoods s) was a dealer and if a problem were to arise the tracker makers would be doing the "over night" shipping thing to keep him happy because he sold their products.
By the way I have very high reguards for Steve and Eliz.

From what I can see, solar panels on fixed arrays, with batteries, backed up with a generator is best. Sound good?

Yes it does...........But you expressed some sort of interest in wind so don't give up on that.
Addressed to any and all; Do lots of homework on wind if you show an interest. Get the wind maps for your area.
Yes wind is very site specific..................go for it

I would agree with that. There is a beautiful fixed array ground mounted system on the 15 just past Barstow and before Calico. Its for a mobile home park on the right side heading North. They must have 80 panels or so.

Wouldnt you just love a setup like that?Bet they made a killing on the rebate too, being a business they got em all.

I see they have all the CDs right now for a hundred bucks.Should i order them or save the money towards the homestead.
Thats my criteria for expenditures right now.
Im serious, would like your thought, the issues I have I find very useful.
PS- I have all the TMEN mags into the 90s,paid a lot more for them, and dont regret it,they have some really useful ideas.

If you want info on gen fuel usage, try www.onan.com they have spec sheets on all of their gens that tell you how much they use on each fuel. I agree with using diesel though in the respect that in a major crisis it is easier to acquire and store than propane, as well as having viable alternatives

It looks pretty good. I haven't had much time to go through it, but I like what I've seen
