I would recommend making aquaintance with your local grocer. There are rules that govern how long produce can set out and they just end up tossing a lot of it out. Sure beats paying for it.

Thank you for the correction. Unprocessed restaurant plate scrapings cannot be fed to hogs for commercial sale. However, having to cook it as required likely makes it economically unfeasible unless on a large scale.

It is believed the last foot and mouth disease outbreak in England was caused by infected meat in gallery food waste unloaded in an English port and used for pig feed.
