please help..

I sure am glad that you kept your head..and got on here and found some help! Good for you!!

Now..I am certainly no pro at goats. All I know is what I do here and what does or doesn't work. I have a couple of wethers..six years old now. They were bottle babies...and my first goat boys. They are absolutely huge!! And other than "coaxing" them with it once or twice...I have never fed them grain. They are on pasture and hay and of course water and minerals and salt blocks.

I will go one step farther and tell you that in the spring til late fall...MOST of my herd goes grainless. ONE..I am not showing..TWO..I am not milking for a business.

Now yes..if I have someone on the stand milking, they are getting some grain. OR if I have a mom getting pulled down by twins, trips or quad..she also is going to get a little help.

My "kids" don't know what grain is.

Good luck with the other two. I would have to say that you could/should read Vicki's replies a couple of times or so. And definitely stop the grain altogether.

not out of the woods yet.. the same poor guy seems to have one or two left.. ......this mourning when i went out to give a lil bit of alfalfa pellets and to put more hay out.. he was havin trouble peeing.. then it seemed to run out pretty good like alot better then normal.. so it m ust have started late last night.. so i gave him so water manually.. with a tad bit a apple cider vinger(sp) to help dissolve it a lil and then some lemon juice manually.. so well see how it goes...
Lyn
p.s. i bow down to all of you for helping me

Please go to pipevet.com order their ammonium chloride. It's less than $5. Give him a tablespoon each day in some water until he and everyone is back to normal and off the grain and not having problems anymore. Than you won't have to use it anymore. If you do feed grain, and there is no reason to, than put 1 teaspoon for each guy in the grain, add some oil to the feed so it sticks the ammonium chloride to it. Vinegar and lemon or anything else is not going to work systemically and decrease the acidity of the urine. Yes ACV is good for you, but it will not change the PH of your urine. Vicki
