I have never used Lute before..never had to. I prefer not to mess with their natural time table in a doe but when it comes to the fact that it might/probably will be a hard delivery with a newtimer(first freshener) I would rather be there and loose the kids and save the doe than not be there and loose doe and kids.

Not saying that I would loose kids or doe but you get my drift. It is safer for them and me to lute them so I know WHEN they will kid. I know exactly what day they where bred so it wasn't a pen breeding or anything like that.

Normally I wouldn't lute as I don't like messing around with them if I can help it. But when it comes to a safety issue like this I prefer to make sure I am there. I am a busy person and don't want to be on my toes waiting and watching and not know ing for sure if she is in labor or not.

Mary,TX I have a feeling that you lost the doe because of the fact that if she was already down who's to say she wouldn't have died anyways? I think the stress of birth its self no matter what probably would have killed her. Babys I am not sure on...but like I stated before I would much rather loose the kids than their momma if I had a choice sounds weird but you can also rebreed the doe. Its harsh but thats what I prefer. Now if the doe is beyond help than yea I would save the kids instead...

Ok..I will shut up now .
