I've heard about the colodial silver clearing it up too, but never heard how.. would one use a canula and 'inject' it into the uddder??

OK I found one reference to using CS
Quote:
I dose(d) that mastitis doe orally, initially, 15-20 cc's twice/day (3x/day
caused cow pie stool). Brought her 106+ fever down to normal within 24 hours.
It will help with clotting and should keep the milk clean with internal doses.
If you can infuse it, that would be excellent as well. Many people claim they
can take a carton of "sour or bad" milk and add CS and it's fresh and drinkable
within half an hour. I mixed CS with DMSO (80/20) and applied to her teats
until I got some fresh poke root. I shredded poke root and mixed 50-50 with
DMSO and ACV and applied externally daily. There was a noticeable difference in
clotting.

I did not (aka could not) milk this doe as she wouldn't stand for it without
killing her and me. On the rare occassion I had someone willing to help hold
her still while I attempted to milk her...well, it wasn't enough to be much
benefit and it was still overly traumatic for all of us.

I did not have the knowledge or tools to infuse up the udder, but if you have
this ability, I would seriously consider doing so with your CS. It "should"
remove any clotting quickly (within half an hour if infused well inside the
udder), so you can milk her out.
Keep in mind her that the doe posted on this thread maybe too far gone to ever be cleared up and by her statement of one side being rock hard my guess is CAE
so CS or herbs probably wont help but may help in keeping other side at bay I would personally use massive doses of Vit C

Nope Stacy me neither on the sour milk :haha: however will say that in olden days before refrigeration people did put silver dollars in the milk to keep it fresh longer.

One thing to consider on use of CS for anything and especially mastitis is that there are pros and cons as to whether CS kills off the good flora/bacteria as well as the bad so I would most deffiently use probios and probably only use as a last resort for mastitis.

Hey Ya'll , just wanted to let everyone know my final decision on the doe, after much thinking about it , and some debate, we decided that in this case, we were just going to admit our mistake, and suck it up , since she was of no value as a milker and seeing as how making her go through another cycle of breeding and kidding and the pain of a swollen udder only to then butcher her seemed wrong , we decided to simply put her into the freezer, now rather than waiting .
thanks everyone for your input, even for the digressions , i never really had given much thought to CS for goats before ,
any how, thanks everyone !
