just one more comment. The rule of thumb around here for cooking sheep or goat is :

LOW and SLOW

Low and long heat. It just falls off the bone. mmm mmm mmmmmmmm

we butchered our 2 goats today... got 43.5 lbs of meat. I thought that was good.. so it comes out to about $1 a pound. can't beat that!

Very good return indeed. We don't pellet feed and grain ours with whole grains. I couldn't say it could be certified organic but it's as close as we can get to it without knowing what's in the co-op purchased grain. The point being the same meat purchased in the local health food store would be quite substantial in price. To me this is a very great + to the lifestyle, for the labor involved etc.

We didn't feed any grain. well, maybe some cracked corn from the local elevator. But, 90% of thier diet was horse weeds & grasses. So, they earned their keep by eating all the weeds & keeping the grass mowed.
