Goat Names

I had 3 sweet pygmy goats named Shadrach, Meeshach, and Abednego. Then there was Dummy Doat ( I didn't name it ),a huge Saanen, Salt, and Pepper, 2 Toggenburgs and numerous others. The pygmies were my favorites for pets but Toggs gave the best milk. I miss them soooo much. If I ever get back to the country a goat is the first thing I'll get.

Great names I think I may "borrow" a few of them. I will name a few of my goats
Doughboy, dam Ima cookie; daughter's name is Popp'n Fresh, her doeling was named Noel as she was born on Christmas Eve, buckling named Yankee Doodle born on the 4th of July!
First Boer buck named Rooster Cogburn, his sire was Foghorn, his first doe kid I named Cute Chick and her first doeling was named Chicklet.
I have Butterscotch and her doelings Taffy and Cinnamon. /also Annie and Dandy but I didn't name them.

My sheep are more entertaining - Black Pearl, Captain Jack, Elizabeth, and Will.

We had a billy goat, which I named Buster after my deceased dad, who had a goat named after him as a child. We saved Buster from the butchers at an auction for $25. He was my baby! The most loving pet I've ever had. Unfortunately he was killed by my neighbor's wandering dogs one night...I was hysterical. I really loved him and I miss him dearly!

My Nubian's name is Bebe which is BB short for Bawling Baby. Her daughter, half boer is Febe.
Annie is a saanen, her daughter half-boer and very fast is Blaze.
The boers are Bugsy and her daughter Crazy, Sara and her daughter Amber, Nala and her daughter Edith (named after Edith Bunker for her annoying voice), Ma, Cappucino, Nutmeg, Squirt, Jo-dee and Emma. The bucks are Tucker and Kong. And a pygmy named Liddie. And sheep Mae and Mattie.
I'd name off the chickens too, but there's 70 of those

Names

I have plenty of names. The challenge for me is the fact that I have registered goats so their names are sometimes more complex. But here is the list... The goats I have now are ...
Little Hope Sunshine
Davis-Farms Goddess Athena
Little Hope Sunbug
Hutchinson's Little Jigger
Wiser Choice FTJ Dicey
Wiser Choice Miss Posey
SB4U Annie Oakley, SB4U Calamity Jane, & SB4U Belle Starr (this years does I kept were named from Women of the wild west)
Some of my Grade stock does are named ...
Crook (because she has a crooked nose)
Peaches and Cream (are mother and Daughter)
Gretchen
Abby
Hope, Faith, & Charity (mother and 2 daughters)
Dutchess (thinks she is royalty)
Countess (this one does too.)
Trixie
Kitty (gentle as a pussy cat)

I have a bunch of wonderful names all wrote down ahead of time for the new kids I'm expecting. I am expecting somewhere between 20 and 30 kids in all so I have to write names down as I think of them.

All my goats can be seen on my website at http://www.geocities.com/udderlysaan...y_Saanens.html

If I get my goats bred, I think I'd name the girls Isabella or Sophie, and the boys Lionel or Cale...

I set up my buck lease in August- all his kids have "star" in their names so I was going with that theme- Twinkle, Spangle, Supernova, Lightbright.
One of my 2005 kids (if it's a doe) might vary from the theme- here's the story-

About 2 months ago I went to a meat goat auction to price them out and there was a nice Togg doe there- very thin, overgrown hooves and a cough but well put together except for 2 things- long, long legs and neck totally out of proportion and crooked toes. I though, "well, she's really strong where the others are weak, she'll balance out the herd." Really good milker when she's fed. Turns out the buck I leased is her sire. Okay, let's wait to see what he looks like-

I picked him up Wends and guess what, he's got the EXACT same giraffe legs and neck- so their baby may be named- What's That.

Keisha, Molly, Jackie, Millie, Deacon, and Malachi.

I've had goats in the past named:
Daisy, Callie Jean, Rose, Rusty, Penny, Cherry, Freddy, Wilma, Rhoda, Rheba, Ruthie (I'm sure there were more. lol)

What do y'all call your goaties?
What a fun thread!!! Our doe is named Violet. She was already named when we got her.

We named our doeling Ginger. She is like a toddler. she is a stinker and in to EVERYTHING!!! silly little kid. We sure love her though. I can't wait until she grows up and starts giving us kids as spunky and cute as she is. Maybe I'll name them after spices too.

My goats names are

Bailey Girl, Salty and Pepper

Bailey Girl (Boer Doe) was named after the Foster Family that took me in and helped me thru sooo much.
Salty and Pepper (Pygmy Doeling Twins) They look so much alike. They are Black with a little white on their face. The only difference in apperance in them are Salty has a little white on the back of her tail and she has longer horns. Pepper is just about all black except the little white on her face.

At the moment we have
% Boers:

Shiloh - buck

Tillie - 2 yr doe being bred for the first time
Brevé - 2 yr doe being bred for the first time
Ladybug
Ginger

Carmen - LaMancha
and our mistery doe who needs a name. She looks Boer/Nubian but is a yellow/gold color all over. Any suggestions?

We try to stick with themes like Ladybugs kids will have bug names, Ginger's spice names, Brevé coffee names and so on. Not sure what we'll come up with for Tillie. Carmen will have Spanish names I think.

Ok this not knowing what types of names to give Tillie's kids really started bugging me so I did a search and found this site:

Behind the Name ~ The etymology and History of First Names
http://www.behindthename.com/

You can do a search on a particular name and it will give you a link to names that are related to it, as well as the meaning. Now I've got some idea's anyway.

Still need a name for that yellow doe though....

Blessings,

Honeybee
