It's so hard watching our beloved furry friends grow old.
So glad you are getting to enjoy each other awhile longer.

Any time a goat goes off its feed or has an illness or injury, its rumen can stop functioning correctly and start producing toxins (enterotoxemia). It is never a bad idea to administer the CD&T antitoxin. Note, this is not the same thing as the CD&T toxoid.

I think we lost a wether to entero that came on after a mild case of heatstroke.

When a goat starts showing all those symptoms and now losing weight you have to prepare for her checking out. She's 12 and had a good life but you'll have to decide when you think it's time to let her go.

Today was the day ... she is at peace now. Vet just left.

Thanks again to everyone who offered advice and kind words.

So sorry. Wish it weren't so hard, but be at peace with yourself for doing all you could.

Willow Girl, So glad she's improving! I hope she continues to gain strength and gets her appetite back and the Lord will give you a little longer time with her.

I am sorry. I've had a spunky cat left behind by the renters for 21 yrs. It broke my heart when she died. But I've got some very happy memories. Like I said on another post, goats are intelligent and very personable creatures. I miss mine. I hope in time most of your memories will be the ones that make you smile.
