I'm doing this as soon as I find some of these totes.

At our local auction, you can get those totes for $10 each if they are not food grade.

Doug- how durable have those turned out to be?

I use them for hay feeders (what Doug posted) and they are very durable. However, they aren't that good at keeping down the waste...better than not having anything for sure...and kids can get into them for a LONG time. Which they do. And then pee and poo on the hay. Then nobody wants it anymore (can you blame them?). They work though, and I just throw a bean box lid on top to keep the weather out.

Also, you can fit a LOT of hay in there, so like if you were going out of town and having someone else milk, you could decrease their work by stuffing the thing.

That is on of the best ideas I've seen. I could make something similar for our cows also...How did you frame the metal on the outside of your barn?

I just bought 6 of these for $10 each. Woohoo. People were wanting from 50 to 125 each. I had a guy contact me that had 6 of them in his way.
