Rut ?
The girls are starting to come into season. The boys are not in rut, yet. :( Any tips on getting the boys in the mood?
Just putting a doe with a buck should work . . . that's weird.
My boys have been in the mood for 2 months. But I have 8 boys. It might be the competition.
Well, these are young guys and I'm just a bit impatient to get the girls bred. I didn't have a buck last year and milked through. So, I'm a bit anxious to get started so we can have girls that are producing more milk. I did put a doe in with them and had some head butting between the Boer buck and the Nubian doe. Just no action this time. Probably doesn't help that it's been in the 90's here.
Shoot both my boys have been going nuts here for the last 3 almost 4 weeks. First doe that went into season was Pawnee then couple days later Feline, Monkey started getting really worked up chasing PT around to keep him from the girls I think that helped escalate the peeing and grunting and tongue wagging which then put Anuket into season and now Nibbler. BUT I had put the boys in with the girls at the beginning of June and no action until end of July.

Play a little Marvin Gaye, and a dash of Al Green. Sprinkle rose petals around their pens, and try to find them a leopard skin or bear skin rug. You could also try to put some sexy red lipstick on your does and maybe some fish net stockings if they're wild ladies.

Bucks don't have to be in rut to breed.

Kristabelle, HAH! Now I've got this picture in my head......oh lord

You're welcome.
(Ok, I know, it's a sheep) |
Just bring them to my house. OH LORD my Nigerian buck, I was in his pen today, PHEWY!! And he's only a yearling!
My boys are ready girls not so much.
Two of my does are blubbering at my buck from their fences. He hasn't figured it out yet.
No interest from my does yet.
Well. All early breeding is done. 17 are bred for November and December kids. Going to hold back on the 6 show girls and the yearlings until November and December.
Doug,
Are you going to have any for sale or trade out of the Nov./Dec. bred does? |
It seems my boys never went out of rut from last year! They reeked all spring & summer long! At this point, there are 7 does bred for Dec kids. The younger does will be held off 'til they're old enough, but I'm sure the boyz would take care of business TODAY if allowed.

Yes. I bred some for spots. I bred Goldthwaite to Goldthwaite on others and I bred another buck to some others. |
Can you pm me your list of what you'll have available? Thanks!
