Banding horns is really only safe when it's cold outside. Less blood flow so the band works slower and if it gets knocked off there won't be heavy bleeding.

Horns are connected to the sinus cavity though so a knocked off or sawed off horn is going to bleed in quantities like a nosebleed.

Thanks for the information. I really love the little guy and I am going to try to learn to manage these scurs on my own. He is very gentle and patient, so I am going to try filing them down a little bit at a time. Once cold weather comes and fly season is over with, I will give the banding a shot. I am not going to attempt to use a saw because I have no idea of what I am doing, ☺. For these summer months, I am going to focus on keeping them away from his scalp by filing them down a bit at a time. (I am not brave when it comes to procedures.)
