Not an option. I would have to tie them to a post and hope they don't get wrapped up, plus no way to heat their milk up at feeding time.
Plus, if I got a full load finished, there wouldn't be room for their crate in the back of the truck. And NO, I won't let them loose in the cab of the truck.

Yup. It's obvious your lifestyle and goats don't mix.
(gentle poking fun)

But you are right in that it's hard not to get sucked in by the cuteness and then stumble on the learning curve. Most folks who TRY goats don't stay for the long haul. It's ok.

PS I'm not offended by your sig line. Come back and visit on the forum when you get back into goats.

You don't need a crate. Just some tape. Electrical tape works well. Lay them down and tape a front leg to a back leg. That's how I kept Gemini from wandering in our trailer when we went camping, cutting wood, or what have you and didn't have room for a crate. Glass soda bottles heat well next to an engine and tying a long rope between two trees and securing leashes to that keeps them untangled. Bottle babies will also stick very close to you anyway so tying isn't even really necessary.

You know you want to take them playing in the woods. What other excuses ya got?

Put your bottle babies on a bucket system. They eat when they are hungry and you feed them twice a day. Works great for my bottle babies. I commute two hours a day to a full time job, my babies do fine with a small amount of training to the bucket.
