Oh wow... how beautiful he was. The stone you chose is magnificent, and you inscription made me cry.

I didn't realise it until a year and a half ago but childhood death is everywhere. It's one of those things that your mind shies away from until the day you have to face it. I faced it very briefly when my daughter fell out our window and landed on a cement slab, I'll never forget how she looked. Praise God she survived and lived up to her name, Phoenix, my husband had to give her cpr and she had a broken ankle but was otherwise unscathed. Terrifying. A few months later my best friend lost her son, he was almost 6. He had Cerebal Palsy (doctors fault, loooong story) and some of the meds he was on would make him vomit, he aspirated it and died in bed. As if that wasn't awful enough another friend lost her little boy to brain cancer about 6 months ago, he wasn't even 3 yet.

These stories surely do open your eyes to the tragedy all around us. All i can say is that those beautiful babies are in a better place even though we feel hollow inside because they took a piece of out hearts with them. My best friends son can finally talk and walk and run and sing and play the way boys are meant to play, things he couldn't do down here. I am grateful for every moment these special children were allowed to touch lives, and for the memories that stay with us. God bless them all.

Doug, I don't have words. My heart aches for you and your beautiful boy.

And your mom. I don't know how she could survive that.

Huggs,
Alice

So sorry about your son...

I would not even think about shipping goats to someone in another country.. Just WAY too much to go wrong.

As far as what you would take in payment, too easy to be scammed with those...

Paypal can be disputed, and they side with buyers more than sellers.. Money orders and cashier checks are constantly forged. I've known a couple people that have been scammed with those..

I'd imagine enough people in the US want to buy goats that it doesn't make it worth the risk of being scammed, or something happening to the goats...

We have shipped to the Philippines (through a broker) and it was complicated and took much longer than we were told. But not as long as the shipment before that! (which we were not a part of). There is a lot to learn with overseas shipping. Some buyers want to pay you once the animals are in the air (NOOOOO!) or have you pay for testing...again NO - the tests are EXPENSIVE and barely cover a healthy deposit.

See if you can get your buyers to hook up with a good broker and then ask to be included in the export.

BTW, the export that happened before we were involved, the buyer wanted milkers (dryed up) as well as kids aged 6-18 months. Folks dried up their young milkers (the export was to happen in April or so) and fed and held dozens of kids ($300-400.00) for over 6 months - maybe more, as I quit asking folks as it was stressing them out so much. Not a lot of profit there...

It can be lucrative if you can get a good exporter etc. and timely too!

Doug, I am so sorry for your loss, I cannot even imagine (or don't want to). I have a 3 year old daughter, and I was getting teary eyed looking at the photos of your son. He was much loved for his short time here.
