Got 12 ozs from momma. Got 3 more down each baby. That's right at 12 ozs in the first 12 hours. The little girl is stronger and sucked hers down until the last half oz. The little boy swallowed it down as it dribbled out and actually sucked the last oz. They aren't out of the woods yet. Still aren't strong enough for outdoors. Black tar poo on the little girl again. She's went several times. Haven't had any stuck to little boy so I don't know if he's went yet. Only way he has is if it didn't stick to him. Fingers crossed on these little ones.
On a side note. The third Doeling was deformed. Her head wasn't right. She wasn't developed completely. She didn't have any ears. Her bottom jaw was a lot longer than her top. It was a blessing she was DOA. That way I didn't have to do it.

Stick a diaper on the one baby so you can see for sure if he's going potty

They are really pretty, Doug! You did your best that's for sure...fearless with that tubing! I hope your girl recovers her strength.

the deformed one probably died and that's what caused her to go into labor... the Meconium (black sticky tar poo) is hard to miss.. if the guy goes you'll know..if it doesn't stick to his butt.. he'll be wearing poo shoes..
edited.. good that you got him moving.. (now you have to watch for the runny yellow poos.. that sometimes happens when you have to use an enema and the meconium moves out all at once)

Posing pictures. Girl first.

Yeah, probably the dead baby made the mom go into labor early. Glad they are doing well, but hope the little boy starts nursing better. I don't know much about Nubians, but is the dam G6S tested?

Kids are doing great. Really picking up. Standing and running around the bathroom. Just had 4 ozs each. Starting to suck pretty good now.
Lots of G6S negative in both Dams and Sires background. Chances are slim to none of a positive.

Never saw "runny" yellow poo. Its hard little balls of yellow poo today. Looks like the kids have a great chance of making it, now. Still weaker than they should be but LOTS stronger than they were. They are wagging their little tails and making lots of noise when I open the door for feeding time.

if you have hard glue like yellow poo.. he should be fine.. sometimes when they empty out all at once.. it seems to shock their gut and they'll start having tons of yellow runs for a day.. just getting things lined out (BUT.. that's also kids who are drinking big full bottles at a feeding)..glad to hear they are doing better.

How much should they be drinking at feeding? And I was in a hurry this morning and was running late on getting the kids to school. I let them suck for a little bit but when they slowed down, I picked up the tube and finished off the 4 ozs I had for them. Is that bad for them to do that?

tubing is a fine dance..you tube to keep them getting enough.. but if you tube too much.. they can sort of *forget how to suck*... with the little weak ones.. goal is getting them on the bottle and not needing the tube as fast as possible.. it does take a lot of time and patience to get enough down them via the bottle, weaker kids get tired.. they suck for a while sort of nap, rouse them up, get them back to sucking.. my newborns will eat anywhere from 12ounces to 16ounces per feeding (4 x's a day) the kids born last week before last, are now polishing off 24 ounces at a time 3 x's a day. (also trying to rip the nipple off the bottle.. butting hard enough to bloody your knuckles).. already missing the sweet, lay in your lap.. nursing newborns..

Ok. Im doing 4 ozs about 6 times a day. Should I make them take more? I understand the tubing thing. I want them sucking as soon as possible but if they are weak then its a catch 22.

with them being so light in weight.. their body demand for more ounces isn't as high as a full sized kid would be (how are you counting due date days?.. you mentioned they were due on friday.. so they were only 3 or 4 days early?.. I almost always induce the does to go 3 days early... never notice any smaller size really)

I went by the goat gestation calender for the first day I saw her breed.
Edit. Actually for the first day I saw her in heat. I assumed she bred that day. I didn't always see them breed. I'll do a lot of things different this fall than I did last fall.

sept 1st would make jan 29th for 150 (which is what day *most* nubians kid).. I usually induce them to kid on day 147 or 148 (so I don't risk them going into labor on their own and us missing the birth)

How? What do you give them? And what's the protocol? How long after? Etc?
And the 29th is what I have for Cleo.
Also, Hula still had ligaments the night before.
