I can also see how sweet you were to him, and he obviously loved you. It's such a shame that he had to go so early, but everyone's time comes eventually. His life was probably better than a lot of old dogs that have died, simply because you were his owner. I hope you find great truth in that. I think an hour loving on the goats is due!

GraceAlice you made me start crying again, thank you for what you said. That means a lot to me, he was my baby boy . I know that what I did was my last and ultimate act of love for him, he was beginning to suffer and not feel good. I let him go before it got too bad and I am at peace about that, we spent this morning cuddling before I took him in. The hardest part was the sedative because he started yelping and trying to get away. He fought against it so hard and we had to give him another shot, but I just held him and talked to him letting him know he was okay. Oh lord now I am tearing up again...I miss him so dang much.

I am thankful though that I am so close with his breeder Elaine. Tucker is a nephew of my old boy Riot whom I lost 2yrs ago (almost to the day...I lost Riot on January 4th 2012). Tucker's older sister Carlee is hopefully pregnant and due in February and I am looking at maybe getting a pup out of that breeding. I am praying she is and that I can connect with a pup like I did Tucker.

Tucker was a one of a kind dog and can't be replaced but I pray I can find a pup who will help me heal like Tucker helped me heal from loosing Riot.

Met a lady at the vet's office once who's dog was like 14. He bones were starting to flake away he was so hold. He was on weekly shots to keep him joints strong enough to hold himself up. I DON'T like that. That dog snapped at me when I tried to pet him because he thought I was going to stick him with a needle. Almost torture for that poor dog.

I think what you did was something super super honorable. Mostly because most people can't bring themselves to do that, they love their dogs too much. The thing is, if you love your dog that much, then you will not let him suffer. And that is what you did. You ended his life softly, and he passed away in the arms of his favorite person. I don't know about you, but I think that's pretty darn fortunate!

I hope I don't make you cry again. I have to say I'm feeling a little guilty. I hope you feel better soon. I can lighten up my posts if you want!

So, are you going to get another male to keep Tucker's legacy or will you get a sweet little girl ? I was always fond of girl dogs, until I got my Silas. He's the best dog I've ever set my hands on.

Tucker sure was a cutie, he was a pure chihuahua right? I'm guessing, anyway. I've always wanted a long haired chihuahua.

Tucker was a Papillon . I am not sure if I will be getting a male or a female, I go for temperament over anything else. So if I find a sweet little female I fall in love with a girl it will be or if it is a boy I will get a boy. My mom actually might be getting a pup as well. She was VERY attached to Tucker but it was hard because he was my dog. So she is tossing around the idea of getting a pup of her own.

It would be kind of fun to have siblings but we would need to be careful to not let them bond to each other.

Oh yes, that would be fun! I have two puppy siblings that are an absolute pain, they were rescues, but they are also sweet and they love each other.

I agree with the whole tempermant thing. Sounds like a great idea to me.

My aunt has a "pappipoo"... a papillon mixed with a mini poodle.. she's a little nuts. I'm not familiar with the breed at all though, and Tucker seemed like a very very sweet little guy.

If you find the right breeder Papillons can be one of the best dogs ever. Tucker was amazing, best temperament and never met a stranger. Great with kids of all ages just like his Uncle Riot was.

I just worry about siblings bonding more to each other than to me and my mom. So if we DO get siblings they will not be allowed to just bond to each other. It is still up in the air...it really depends on if she can find a pup she falls in love with.

Aww.

Yes, I think our two get into a lot more trouble than they would alone. Like I said, they are a huge PAIN when together but not when they are separated! No problem with bonding though, they are attached to their people like magnets. I can see that being a problem though.

I'm so sorry for your loss and your terrible heartache, Justine. Tucker was a treasure, and I hope your many cherished memories of him will help you through the healing process. I think many of us have been where you are right now, and we do know how hard this hurts! My vet also cried along with me when I had to have my beloved Sumo put down (ossteocarcinoma). Even with a painful bulge on his foreleg, and bones becoming brittle, that Great Pyrenees still stayed with his job. He had heart! Oh, I could list several other furry family members that I've lost, but that is not the point. The point is that they claim a special place in our hearts, and though their loss devastates us, they will always be there, in our hearts.

Little Tucker LOVED you, an you did right by him, all the way to the end. I hope you can find some solace in that thought.

(((Hugs)))

Oh, Sweetie.... {hugs}

As others have noted, you did the right, loving, and honorable thing for your friend. He was with you for such a short time, but I know he will be in your heart forever.

God bless you with peace as you go through your grieving. {hug}

Thank you everyone....last night was a hard night. Tucker always slept RIGHT next to me in bed and without him the bed felt so cold and empty .

I did remember last night as a pup he ALWAYS fell out of bed and I even contemplated putting up a guard rail so he would stop falling out of bed. He eventually out grew it but it did bring a smile to my face. I had forgotten that about him...
