A breeder that we purchased a doeling from, shows and wins BIG nationally, uses this one. They raise all kids on prevention.

When we haven't had colostrum from the moms and only used this replacer, we have not noticed any difference in rate of growth or illness between kids on this or moms treated colostrum. We feed this as the sole food source for the first 24 hrs or until the package is gone. For our ND's, trips usually finish the pouch in the 24 hrs, mini saanens twins in 24 hrs.
That second one is available at a local farm store, and they sell right next to it, the lamb colostrum replacer of the exact same brand. As far as I can tell, the ONLY difference is the price, as the guaranteed analysis is exactly the same as well as ingredient list. If I decide to get some, think I'll get the lamb one, since it's cheaper...

Yesterday I took the opportunity to trim all hooves, copper bolus, and gave each goat a does of Selenium and Vitamin E paste. I have kidding starting the 24th. Currently I have Nuflor, Banamine, B complex, Red cell, feeding tubes, CDT, Toltrazuril, Cydectin Pour on, Probios, colostrum, Quest for horses, LA 200, Prohibit, Valbazen, Panacur, Safeguard, Corid, REsorb, and a few other things.

What am I missing?

I always pick up at least a couple 2cc lute w/ IM needles and a couple 1cc oxytocin just in case they are needed. Cheap insurance.

Oh and, sort of morbid, but a scalpel.

kidding season list here is usually pretty short... I only give BoSe before hand.. make sure and worm (with quest) the day they kid.. bottle of injectable CMPK (just to be on the safe side)... then nothing for 3wks.. any kids still here start get their first dose of Toltrazuril. (I replace those products as needed).. everyone gets their copper at least 2x a year.. fall and after kidding..

just looking your list over Doug.. I don't even own/use Prohibit, Valbazen, La200, Corid, REsorb, Probios, colostrum, or B Complex... last time we use some Red Cell was 4 years ago. sure it's expired.. I keep Nuflor, Banamine, BoSe, B12 (always on hand & in date) have a bottle of thiamine (again.. haven't use a dose of it in years).. Lute, Dex, Cystorelin are replaced each kidding season.. I worm with either quest or cydectin pour-on (depending on my mood LOL).. I do keep an in-date bottle of CDAntitoxin...

My goat medicine cabinet contents have changed a lot over the years.. many things no longer bought/used.. several new items added.. I think it just takes a few years to know what your herd's needs are.. what works best for you.. what is pretty much *perfume on a pig*

good luck with your kiddings.. our two jan. kiddings went super smooth and easy.. so odd to just have 2 sets of twins to care for.. it's usually 40 or so babies.. all wanting bottles at the same time LOL (BUT.. that starts in less then a month).. so this is our *easing our way into kidding season* LOL

**edited to add Ringers.. I always go into kidding season with a least a couple bags of Lactated Ringer's... just in case I get a puny kid or a mom that bleeds a lot..just a good thing to have extra fluids on hand**

Pics of the new kids? Haven't taken any yet. I'm planning on keeping one of Leila's. Both are nice...trying to decide between spotted guy or blue boy. Will probably hang on to all four ...untii the other does kid..and I get an idea of the quality of this year's kids. It's suppose to be nicer next week...might take pictures then
