It's still sleeting here It's supposed to turn over to snow and looking at 3-6" of that. So far no power outage yet. Hubby left for work an hour early so he could go slow. Thought I'd attach a photo of this summer, to remind everyone of green times

Oooooh.... Summerrrrrrrrrrrrr.... Come back, Summer! I miss you!

It is snowy and yucky and they closed the clinic today, so Pony's paycheck will be short, too.

Now I am going out to do chores, but I don't wanna. <pout>

We have electricity. Thank God!!! Now it's snowing heavily. At least 3" of ice under this snow. 19 degrees.

I don't know how many inches of snow we have, but it's at least 4, I would say, with more falling steadily.

'Spose it's a good thing they closed the clinic today...

It turned from sleet to snow at about noon yesterday. Since then it has not quit snowing. Snowing like crazy as I type this. Very little wind. Here is a photo of one of the bird baths showing that at about 7 am we had 8 inches of snow. Goats have not ventured outside. LGD's are with them inside, but they obviously have been out at some point. Think I'll go back to bed...feel like hibernating...yawn...

Well, I think that was it for Kansas. Darn.

Okay, am I the only one that thinks sleet is adorable? They look like mother nature's snowballs, to throw at little tiny people! Awwwww

It finally stopped snowing about half an hour ago. I told Liz Murphy I'd go out and measure the snow depth when we go out for chores.

Oh, I do not want to go out again! I slept like a rock last night after chasing those ferschlugginer turkeys around, and then had a lovely lay-about all day because of the morning chores.

I'll sleep solidly tonight, I'm sure!

Oh! Nastiness! Temp going down to 2 degrees tonite! Tomorrow's daytime temps won't even hit 20 degrees! A few years ago, during a span of relentless below-freezing temps, I had a young doe abort twins. Remembering that, I went out a while ago, and put 2 young bred does in the kidding pen WITH heat lamp! I'm positive they'll be more comfortable, and *I* will sleep better!

Good plan nehimama
We still have mama goat locked away with petunia.
No babies yet. I jumped the gun a bit but reading your reply makes me glad
I did!
We were supposedly 4 here this morning (wind chill -6) but even with the taps
running our pipes froze between 4 & 5 this morning so I bet it
was even colder than that. I haven't seen much of any of them except to peek
out when I brought more hay or corn for the geese that they
happily stole

We got to 5 last night, but tonight is suppose to be 0...tomorrows HIGH temp is supposed to be 13 with a low of -3...the record that day is -4, so we might possibly make a record. To go from near-record highs (58--62 being record high that day) to record lows in a few days is kind of shocking to the system to say the least! The goats seem to be holding up well though! They're all out in the snow right now. Mine don't mind snow, it's the big wet dripping stuff that they hate....gotta say, I kind of agree!

I wonder if maybe she aborted due to fighting because of the cold and everyone getting cooped up.

I truly believe it was cold-stress.

Doug!! I just saw that "sitting in a tree" thing. What in the world? Deer do not move around in this kind of weather...what the heck are you hunting? Just don't tell me that you are sitting out there in a tree because the pond is frozen and you cannot jump in...if you tell us that ... well, that's it, Doug!! You cannot be allowed to be around that beautiful little child until you get some serious help!!! You better come up with something reasonable...

Love the pictures and I LOVE that cow almost makes me want one!
The call for snow and sleet here for thursday and friday went south (sorry yall) but this morning doing chores we started to get a little sleet which has now changed into snow. Yesterday woke up and no hot water bleh yea pipes got cold overnight, so dripped the faucets last night. Thursday house furnace quit working but got repair man out on friday (it was what I thought it was) easy fix 250 dollars later we got heat again. Missing one water heater for the horses but goats and chickens are all good soooo glad I sold all my bunnies don't have to deal with frozen bottles this year. My mother seems to think we should have to carry water in buckets keep telling her thats why I drain the hose and she complains when I try to bring it in. Good thing I moved all my goats to the new shed so dont have to carry water very far

We got an extra 2 inches last night. Started around 6pm and was still going at 1 am when I got up to let the house dogs out. They did not stay out long! It was not predicted any place that we follow. Looks to be a looooooooooooooooooong winter !

Can hardly wait. It started snowing and we're supposed to get at least 6 more inches. I need to go out to lunch before it gets too bad!

We are back at it! About 3 new inches so far...however, it is not that cold this time...so it may not last...the pregnant ladies are staying inside, but the boys are definitely out and about.
