Yuck. Here in Kansas it is not bad yet, we weren't scheduled to get anything bad anyway. Besides dropping temps. Weather channel says it feels as though its 2 degrees here, so the temp is definitely dropping. Fed the rabbits and their water bottles were rock hard. I had a hard time finagling them to get them out of there zip tie holders, they were so hard.
We did get a teensy bit of snow but nothing to even be aware of really.

Beautiful fresh sweet smelling straw in the bays - & where are they?
The chicken coop, all under the roost - including the cow, it's a sight lol

Its a balmy 65° in N. Georgia. The swarms of house finches came this AM. We'll know we're about to get slammed when the cedar wax wings arrive. I think we'll be spared this time around but looking for some rain. Must be bad one to see the number of birds we have with the front still so far away.

BrrRrr!
It's about 20 here. Thankfully I don't have to walk too far with hot water buckets filled from the bath tub. Two of them I have to reach over a 41/2 ' fence.
I go out three times a day to make sure it's available.
When driving on ice or snow, put it in neutral & tap brakes lightly way before you have to stop. Same with sharp corners.

Definitely worth the wait! lol That little cow is adorable and snuggly, too. I could be mistaken, but it appears to me that the goats are asking, "When are you going to move all that nice, fresh straw over here?" You better get on it...it is getting dark!

Yuck doug! So far here we have about 1/4ish inch of ice pellets (sleet?) nothing really wet came down with it thankfully so the power lines hopefully will hold.
They're saying 4ish inches of snow over night - we'll see what we really get.
"They" have been all over the map with the expected amount for the last few days.
How are the power poles looking there? Y'all have had a LOT of slush it's seemed.
Everyone here went back to their hay beds except mama - the others were knocking her around (to include the cow!) so we moved her and our smallest youngun petunia and put them in the garage pen. They seem content there and mama appears to be contracting, could be a long night!

Won't know until morning about potential power pole and line damage.

I hope the power lines hold up for you guys!
I see we have a lot of snow sliding across Kansas. I think it is going to make it's way right onto us.

Haha, you guys! On Monday, the high here was 58*. By yesterday, the high only got up to 19, 21 for today and low tonight is suppose to be 7. Quite the swift change...and I don't mind the cold too much, but the dramatic temperature shift is not very fun!
The worst thing I have ever seen...Okay, first of all I live on a hill, but to get to my house, you go downhill and back uphill...yeah, so uphill both ways, and any amount of snow can make this somewhat difficult. WELL, we had a snow storm, quite a bit of snow really, it mostly melted, then it rained on top and that froze, but with some water over it. OH MY GOODNESS! I have never seen something so SLICK! Literally to get to the goats to feed we CRAWLED up the hill because there was no walking...was a solid sheet of ice. and smooth like a zamboni had just driven over it! WOW, that was intense.

its supposed to be below zero tomarrow, hose is drained I run it thru a rafter in the barn for easy draining, horse has heated trough and I use gallon vinegar jugs to take hot tap water to goats, chickens, rabbits, outside dog and cats. Chickens have a heat lamp and dog and cats are in tack room with a heat lamp and door just open enough so they can go in and out if they want.

I usually have a series of footwear to get through the seasons. Regualr shoes for summer, rubber boots for fall mud, insulated rubber for cold ice/mud and snowmobile boots with spiked soles for the snow/ice.
This year it was straight from summer shoes to snow mobile boots. It's just been too dry for mud at any point. Scary.
