She looks perfectly content in the picture above & almost like she's showing off that cool Pink splint! So glad she's doing so well but Jeesh what a scare!

Yeah, Katie, I'm thinking she has a good racket going here. I certainly wouldn't let her have any kitchen knives in the future!

Whew! What an adventure!

I sure am glad and relieved that your Chloe is well and on the mend!

Where is that marvelous vet located? Is she driving distance from here?

That's a haul, but if/when Sally retires, we'll need someone who knows her stuff.

I have driven that way many times to see patients. Is she right on 63?

you turn on F off 63.. (it's across from the convenience store, there in Kosh)..go out across the railroad tracks..continue on F for a mile or so.. there is a sign for her clinic..she's almost a mile on up, the gravel road.. the clinic is a new log cabin with a big red roofed barn.. it's MO. Cat & Cow Clinic (417) 867-3262.. don't even know her last name.. everyone just calls her Dr. Ann

We had something similar happen with one of our goats a few years back. He managed to sever all the tendons above a rear pastern, on the cannon. Bled like crazy. I put pressure on it, taped the heck out of his leg, put him in the back of the truck and drove him to the vet. The vet stitched him up and made him a splint. She said he was the most well-behaved goat she'd ever worked on. I changed dressings, padded the leg and vet-wrapped the splint back on twice a day for a week, then once a day for three weeks. Then once every two or three days for three more weeks. It was a lot of work but when he was healed, there was only a slight limp. After six months there was no limp at all. The only way you'd know which leg was the injured one was by the fact that it was slightly thicker than the other leg for about two years. Four years post-surgery there was no visible difference between his two hind legs.

Our vet bill was only about $300. I liked that vet. Sadly, she moved to a different practice.

I hope your outcome is as positive as ours was!
