Buckhuntr, I KNOW! I KNOW! You may pat yourselves on the back for being the smartest home owner in America! Love them, love to look at photos of them...never should have done it! Could not resist it. The kids love it and they all want to keep the place for summer visits, etc., after Mac and I have departed. I keep sending them photos of what their "summer vacations" will be like...LOL! Oh, well, we never should have had 5 kids either (my mother knew that!) Never should have bought that first goat either...Joan and Emily told us there was "nothing to it" (entirely their fault..).
LOL.

Yes, laugh on, Douglas: he of a thousand goats!!

It is true, however, that Joan and Emily may actually be the root of all evil! Imagine that...and we all thought it was money.
Mac and I have decided that while we may leave the cabin to our kids, we are definitely leaving the goats to Emily (Joan is actually older than we are and so we are more forgiving in her case). In fact, I would encourage everyone to do the same. Run out tomorrow and see your lawyers about changing the wills to make sure that Emily has enough goats to keep her "busy" for the rest of her life (she is VERY young!!) REVENGE!!!

So, you like "Ye Olde Coots"? Well, we had bath robes made for our visitors with "Stolen From Olde Coots" written on the back of them...LUCKILY!!....turns out our youngest son and his wife tried to make off with the expensive items! We might never have retrieved our property had we not been wise enough to label them. Let that be a lesson to all of you!....photo of attempted theft attached...

Yeah, you're right, Min. They just don't make that expensive bath robe stuff like they used to...also, note that the sleeves seem a little short...huh, maybe we will consider someplace besides the Dollar Store for our next purchase of exclusive bath wear...I hear Walgreen's has some upscale stuff (at least around the holidays).
Hey, did you notice the very first Cheese Head hanging on the wall? Classy, stuff, that!

Dozedots, what great pictures! I'm envious of that beautiful log home. We have a log home also but not nearly as big. We also just re did the logs. Ugg! We had to deal with checks (cracks) in the logs as well as re chinking the whole thing, staining, and sealing.

I can TOTALLY appreciate all of your work as we are in our late 40's and thought the project would surely be the death of us (or at least one of us LOL).

Just wondered what part of the country you're in? We also want to build one in Ozark country of MO when we get moved there. Don't know there if it is doable with the bug population.

You have a really cool place, thanks for sharing.

NO! I was trying to figure out if that was the same Ralph Lauren bedspread as I have now I see the cheesehead!

Libertygirl! We HAVE to get together...we are IN MO!! Why should we be the only people to suffer with log cabin fever? Sure, jump right in here...we will even introduce you to Joan and Emily! Good grief, girl, we can ruin your life in so many ways...gosh dern, this is goat heaven or something like that...hey, Susie is here when she isn't denying it, and Doug (he may have purchased all the goats before you arrive actually), not mention Nehimama who will try to turn you to the small side, Pony (who will praise Emily like she was some kind of princess - but we will set you straight, honey), then there is CJBegins who knows all about house hunting in MO and Alice who can sell you a house!!! Why, by the time we finish helping you, you will be wondering why in the heck you didn't move here sooner...or something like that...

Oh, Min! Who knew!! We have the same taste! Golleeeee! Here are some of the beautiful and typically elegant items we present to our visitors who arrive without preparing for an overnight stay....quality stuff that has stood the test of time (and, of course, my ringer style washer)....

what great humor! Congrats! the only reason I would get up that high is to "break into my own home". I locked the keys in the house with the baby and I were on the outside. yikes.

love the screen room too.

HaHa Dozedotz....!!! That all sounds like so much fun.. Really though, I would love to visit. Your place looks really neat. Was the house already built or did you all do that as well? We bought a place in Wright county a couple of years ago, with full intentions of being there within months. Then we got involved with trying to adopt a child here and have been delayed by the courts since. Very frustrating, but it's getting close now! Yippie!! Oh, so about the bugs.....does your home require a lot of preventative care to keep it undesirable to bugs (eating it)?

The cabin is 24 years old and we do not have a bug problem...do not know why. Perhaps the logs were soaked in some kind of preventative??? Another thing we have in common: we adopted our second child! It has never been easy...wasn't back then either!
Good luck! I think that Wright County is near St. Charles??? Not sure...we are closer to Jeff City. Still, there are all kinds of wonderful goat people in MO. and I think you will love it.

Thank you, both me & my hubby are soooo...waiting to move there. We've spent 1/2 of last year there, and there is no more beautiful place. I was born there, but not raised there. We are super anxious and hopefully we will bring our little guy with us! We're near Lebanon. Sounds like you may be more west. Yes, this has been a rough road. Thank you for being so kind. and it's such a thrill for me to "talk" with you...My Daddy was born nearby you, I think (Jefferson City) my Gramma lived in Bolivar for 60 some years, and Dad spent alot of his younger years all around there. (Ray Town, Joplin) Thank you for the good luck wishes, we've had Jake since he was 8, he is now 10.. Hope the judge has a clear head on our day. Thanks for sharing with me. And Yippie...NO BUG problem!!!
