Wow. I just looked up organic chicken feeds. I wrongly thought of organic as free range.

And from what I've been told "free range" can mean any number of things as well. Someone told me, they just have to have a window on the chicken house in order to label the eggs as free-range. I don't know about that, but I am pretty sure, if you just have them in a yard, some would consider that "free range". To me, a free ranging chicken would be able to roam in large areas with no fences or limits to where they could go. But, that is apparently not what it necessarily means.

Free range can also mean in a chicken tractor that's moved frequently.

When I go to buy something off Craigslist, I print the ad and take it with me. Too many times there was a disagreement regarding the price or other terms/conditions and the ad was already removed. I know this wasn't a Craigslist deal, but it falls under similar circumstances of C.(over)Y.(our)A.

Don't worry, I don't have any chickens. If I did, they would be locked inside at night!

My free range can go anywhere they please. Thank God the neighbors don't mind them in their yards. I would say my chickens roam over about 20 acres total.

Have you priced organic chicken? Good trade for a little doeling.
Gee whiz, organic or not, that is a good deal. Consider that you traded a not-yet-producing, and still living animal, for 7 meals. The other party assumes a lot of risk, but also has a lot of upside. You get a sure thing. I think it was a smart trade for both parties.

Thanks. She wanted the genetics of the goat, and I was willing to take chickens. It's all good.

Mine ARE free range chickens that are locked up at night...
My goats are worth more than chickens even organic...
Once had a lady ask me if I would be interested in trading some of my female goats for a horse..had to bite my tongue before replying and then politely declined. Then she offered the horse for free hmmm
Even if I fed organic feed to my critters since they free range I do not feel I could make that claim since I can not verify the free range is absolutely organic....so I could keep my chickens locked up and feed organic to make such claim or let my chickens free range and make that claim.

If it's an excess doeling, and there are seven organic chickens,..... even trade for me.

Everyone's idea of value and worth is different. You have to do what you feel is appropriate for you. Enjoy your chicken dinners!
