I also have their disbudding box.. (the box would be easy to make, but I really like their headpiece) http://www.caprinesupply.com/aluminu...lding-box.html

this box fits nubian kids really well... http://www.caprinesupply.com/kid-holding-box.html

after years of fighting an old non-revolving tattooer.. this past year I bought this one and love it.. http://www.jefferspet.com/revolving-.../LIV/cp/16198/
buy the green ink, not the black..

I also buy the nipples I use to feed all the kids from Caprine Supply as well.. http://www.caprinesupply.com/product...e-nipples.html

The description on the tattooer isn't very good. What part revolves?

The 'head' that holds the tattoo needles rotates. You can load both sets of needles so you don't have to keep changing the needles out.

You have two tattoos for each goat. Your herd info in one ear and the individual goat's identifying info in the other.

That makes so much sense to have TWO tattoo sets!! Good Greif. Well, I guess that is another purchase to make...can't tell you how many times I have stood there changing out those tiny pieces and watching them fall on the ground or worrying "did I put the correct set in for this ear?" That is a result of growing up poor! You just convince yourself that you do not need THAT! LOL
Mac and I do the disbudding together...well, he actually does the disbudding...I yell at him to quit hurting the kids. It is a stressful to say the least job! We have the Hoegger box and I agree that it is too big for Nubian kids...they do have a smaller one, but it is for Pygmy or mini babies. We use it, of course, because we grew up poor and you do not replace anything until it has fallen completely to pieces! We use towels on the bottom to raise the kids up and towels around the kids to keep them from drawing back inside the box...you do not want them moving around! He stands facing the box and I hold their ears back from behind the box. He holds their heads with his left hand and burns with the right hand. There were a couple of great videos put up on this site yesterday. I highly recommend reading Kathryn at Black Mesa Ranch about disbudding. For whatever the reason, her description was more helpful to us then any video or article we read...maybe because she explains completely about the difference between copper and white rings and why she does it the way she does...who knows? Sometimes you are just "ready" and it hits you the right way. Anyway, read and watch as much as you can and you will be fine.

Yep, I know some people that do. I have been using a human tattoo gun on my LM tails. You just have to get someone to hold them very still !!!!
