Prayers for me this time
I should preface this with I've been dreading this for years now. I've put it off for several years even though I knew I had a problem. The last few weeks I've been getting worse. Thursday night I got so bad that I was talking emergency room. I waited until Friday morning and went to see my friend, the doctor. I was thinking kidney stones for the 3rd time. NOPE> I have a severe prostate infection and she got my attention when she mentioned the C word. She said don't worry but its time to get this infection out of your body and have you checked out. I have severe back pain, cant pee without pain, fever, chills, sweats, weak, and just feel terrible. I've had to drag myself out to milk and I skipped one milking. I hope the antibiotics kick in soon. I will have preliminary results from urine exam Monday. Thursday I go back for blood work and then I am going to be sent for a digital prostate exam of some kind. My dad has had two surgeries for this. My doc shook her head and scolded me when I said this has been going on for several years. Its time to be a big boy and take care of things. My church is praying for me but I will take all I can get.
I'm a big baby when I'm this sick and my wife has waited on me hand and foot and has accompanied me outside when I've had to feed and milk. Thank God for Jamie. You know the commercial about starting and stopping? I've been ignoring that commercial for several years because I'm a big strong man. :smack |
You deserve a SMACK for ignoring this! :-) glad to hear you are taking care of it now though...I will be praying for you and your family. Please keep us updated as the test results come back!
|
Doug, first I am going to say :nono: then I am going to pray for you
Third I hate doctors, test, :yuck: however we can't afford to get sick listen to your dr and Ms Jamie. |

I ask God our Father to bless you with doctors who are able to identify and implement an effective treatment, wisdom for YOU to follow through on that treatment plan, quick and complete healing, and a double helping of blessing for your dear Jamie. |
Thanks everyone. I really believe in prayer and believe this will be a simple thing that I might need a few meds to manage like my glaucoma.
Yes Susie, Ive been out of it. I have had fever that has made me delirious. Im working on keeping medicated with fever reducers every two hours and pain pills for my pain and Cipro for infection. Everytime I think Im getting better and I stop taking the Tylenol, I get fever again and get to feeling like crap again. |
Will be keeping you & your family in my thoughts & hoping everything is going to be OK & you'll be as good as new in no time! Denise & Jamie should have both slapped you to wake you up a little sooner but it's going to be OK now!
|
Doug we will be praying for you here!

some things I will mention, Cancer loves sugar, and is said to not be able to grow well in Alkaline bodies. Now, I didnt pay much attention to all that until a co worker and her husband where both diagnosed with cancer of the prostate for him and uterine for her. His they just did the surgery one, but when they found hers a few months later her blood work numbers (cant recall the test) where very high, there where multiple tumors in her intestines, a month after switching over to Alkaline and a sugar free lifestyle, which includes giving up lots of fruits and some veggies and all starches not just junk food, her numbers are within normal and the tumors have significantly shrunk much to the surprise of her three doctors. Last month she would have had to have surgery and chemo and now she may just have to have the surgery. Not claiming its a cure, but it is something I feel worth mentioning for you to look into.

Pony pointed out I can't spell. Nicely of course. Lol. |
Thanks Pony for pointing out that I dread this PROSTATE (prostrate-oops) thing so bad that I can't even spell it right. My mom (English teacher) would be disappointed. I've always won the spelling bees. Lol
I'm up taking meds. I was freezing and my wife covered me with more blankets. I tried to pee. OUCH. Going to contact doctor through Facebook and leave her a message that I'm not any better today and I may be worse. No telling what she will do. Fingers crossed that she has another drug that she can prescribe instead of an IV drip in a sterile room. Or that she will tell me to stop being a baby and I should be better by Monday. |
Oh Doug, this sounds very painful. I hope your Doc comes up with another med that can help you urinate.
Hey, that digital exam you are supposed to have....isn't actually digital. It is done with a digit, like on the hand.......the finger, rectally to feel the size of the gland. I just thought I would warn you if she didn't already explain that to you. Not fun but absolutely necessary. It sounds like you are at the point where you need some serious help with urinating. You need to see a urologist that can put a catheter in. It won't be fun but it is better then destroying your kidneys. I will be praying for the infection and pain to go away. |
Also IF your stomach can tolerate it ibuprofen will relieve some of the inflammation from the infection a lot better than Tylenol. Less inflammation means easier to pee and less pain. :) get on the mend soon!
|
She did explain the digit part. But I'm in denial.
|
CJ is right: You may need a cath. And a nurse at the ER should be able to do that for you.
If you don't get that stuff out, you are going to be in REAL trouble, my friend. Hope that you've taken care of it by now. If not, WHY NOT??? |
I just got out of bed. I fed the fowl and milked the goats and watered everything. Wow, did I work up a sweat? Im drinking the cranberry juice straight out of the jug. Oops. Finished the jug. I bet my wife will go get me more. I think the fever is subsiding. My head is more clear. I just need to be able to urinate. That will happen soon.

I agree with Ms P. You shouldn't let this ride... at least head in to town and get a catheter. |
Prayers and healing vibes for you!
|
Talked to the Doc. Going to see a Urologist in the morning.
|
Lifting you up in my prayers Doug! You are as bad as me when it comes to ACTUALLY going to the doctor for things :teehee:.

Two thoughts for you. This is important!! Ask the Doctors that have your blood tested to do a Vitamin D, 25 hydroxy blood test and when you get the results take vitamin D3 daily to get your levels up. Prostate health can be improved or maintained by good levels of Vitamin D in your body. Here is a link to a thread in HT the Alternative Health Forum. I explain in post #49 how I took over 4000 units each day last year , in addition to my daily hours of sunshine, and it still did not push my level too high when I had the test done. Also - you should get a probiotic to take to keep your intestinal flora from getting too trashed by the antibiotics, while they work on the infection. WalMart sells a good one called Probaclac - it gives you 20 billion active cells per capsule. Yogurt helps but probiotic capsules are superior. Good luck, and I'll pray for you. |
Oh wow. Prayers for you and your wife through all this.
|
OK. Update. Some better today. Still cold chills and sweats at night. Im sleeping a lot later than normal for me. Still trouble urinating but getting better. Talked to Doc. She said I shouldn't expect to be better over night. This is going to be a process. She said its good news that Ive improved since Thursday. She will have the results of my test today. We will decide the next step once she gets the results. As long as I can urinate regularly and have bowel movements and seem to be improving on the antibiotic, we are going to take it a day at a time. Im going to try to leave the house for an hour of so today and I may try showing up at the office tomorrow for a few hours.

Good Luck, prayers for you. :) Isn't going to be fun but I'm sure you'll be fine in the end. :bowtie: Also, I can't stand going to the doctor either. I only do it when ABSOUTELY neccesary. Like, I finally pulled the plug when I was doubled over in pain almost crying one morning. And it was still another 2 months before I actually picked my behind up and went. I'm probably not helping. :teehee: |
lol. Another update. Changed to Bactrim for antibiotic. Im starting to feel better. Hoping to not have a rough night again and to get some rest without chills and sweats. Have apt Thursday for all the tests. YIKES. Yes all the tests. They aren't going to wait. Not looking forward to it.
|
Bactrim is a good choice for soft tissue, and great for UTI.
Keep us posted. |
Praying for you to get a good nights sleep. Thursday will be here soon enough so try not to let your mind go there yet. Just get through one chunk at a time. Right now it's sleep and in the morning you will just need to do what is needed to get through the morning. ((((hugs)))) Thanks for the updates and we are all holding you up as you walk through this.

I hope you feel better soon!
I have no advice as I am "allergic to doctors" LOL. I will go if absolutely necessary, but for the most part I treat myself with essential oils. In fact I am just getting over a kidney infection (or did I have a kidney stone?) myself. Lots of water, cranberry juice, oregano oil, frankincense, On Guard. Whatever I had, I feel better :) . I hope you just had an infection that is on it's way to being cured and your test results are fine :) |
Hey Doug,
Hope all goes well today... If it is a minor problem it is good to get it taken care of and know how to prevent it in the future... If it is a more serious issue, the sooner you get on it the better. We will pray. |
Tests today. Probably no results today. But we will see.
|
Hoping they can figure it all out today & that you finally got some rest. Good luck today!
|
Thinking about you today and praying for as little discomfort as possible!
