Monitoring until it's unstable and a problem would be a problem with me. I'd want it out of there, myself. If it was me I'd be getting that second opinion and hope the surgeon was in a cutting mood. :P

Good luck to you, I hope it all turns out well.

I'm sorry you are frustrated Justine. That is just the way it is with health care these days it seems. No straight answers and having to run around to get basic answers. I would write down all the questions you have and call the nurse back and ask. I'm sorry but it's just going to take a bit of time. Thank you God it is treatable!
((((hugs))))

Justine in reading your post I can very much relate. When I was 15 I had a dermoid tumor that twisted on my left overy when I was going down the front steps at home heading out to school one morning. OH my ghoosh the pain took me down in 1.5 seconds, if mom had not have been there watchin me going out the door and down the three steps she would not have know what had happened to me. I don't remember much from the time I took the first step going down the front steps until I woke up in recovery. Mine twisted when I made the movement going down the steps, pulling things and twisting things around the orange size tumor, emergency surgery ending up being almost 6 hrs long and while they where in there the plan was to remove my appendix but that plan had to be scratched due to the damage done to everything eles and I was told later that I almost didn't make it.. I did loose the left overy and tube. This was 38 years ago and not one problem since except the appendix had to be removed several years later.. Sending prayers and wishing you the best.

Okay so an update on my whole medical thing. So I have been waiting to post anything because I wanted more info.

RECAP:
I had my MRI done and I heard back from the doctor last week. At first my doctor thought I had a durmoid cyst but upon looking at the MRI she was more inclined to think it was what was called an endometrioma cyst. The difference being that a durmoid cyst has random bits of tissue in it and an endometrioma has endometriosis material in it (but that would mean I have endometriosis something for which I have never been diagnosed with). I was only able to talk with the doctor's nurse about this and the nurse said that we had two options, wait 12 weeks to take another MRI and the cyst was stable keep doing yearly MRI's or I could go ahead and consult with a surgeon.

Needless to say I said I would MUCH rather consult with a surgeon (mainly because I had a LOT of questions that I didn't feel like I was getting answers for). After the phone call I felt very frustrated and like I was left with even more questions than I began with and that we still didn't know much more than when we first found this thing .

I was going to get a second opinion with another doctor but I was able to schedule an appointment with the surgeon for the same day as the second doctor so I decided to go ahead and meet with the surgeon and see what she had to say (I just moved my appointment with the second doctor to further out and I planned on either keeping it or canceling it depending on how my appointment with the surgeon went).

UPDATE:
So fast forward to yesterday where I met with the OB-GYN Surgeon (who I REALLLLY liked) and I was able to ask her a lot more questions and discuss what could be going on with my left side as well. This doctor also thought that it was more likely I had a endometrioma cyst but we discussed what could be going on with my left side. She said that my symptoms where very odd because it didn't follow exactly along with ovarian cysts or endomertiosis. We decided to go ahead and schedule a surgery for 4 weeks out (so in October) and before my Pre Op appointment we will do one more ultrasound to make sure that the cyst is still there because sometimes they actually go away on their own (if it does we know it wasn't a endometrioma cyst).

If we do the surgery then when she goes in she can look for signs of endometriosis on my right and left ovary as well as just check things out. Either way hopefully I will get some answers which ever route we have to take. If I do end up having the surgery it will rule out or answer questions or if the cyst goes away we know we are looking at something else and again we can start looking at different things it could have been.

So again I am waiting until my next ultra sound but I feel like I got clearer answers from this doctor and I over all just really enjoyed talking with her and liked her. If I do have to have surgery I feel totally comfortable in her hands and I trust her. I will keep y'all updated when I actually have dates for things such as the surgery, the pre op and the ultrasound. If you have any more in depth questions please PM me.

Justine
PS: As odd as it sounds I really hope the cyst doesn't disappear because I really want them to be able to go in and look around with a camera so I can FINALLY get some clear answers.

That doesn't sound odd at all... I'd feel much better finding the source of problems and being able to remove it rather than it playing 'peek-a-boo' with me!

Good luck, I hope it all goes smoothly from here. Let us know how it goes!

Glad you found a doc who will listen and answer your questions (that's HUGE!) and can go in and fix what ever it is.
Wishing you the best in this journey, hang in there!

Yay Justine!

Good doctor you've got there, as long as you don't feel awkward talking to her and she is nice, I'd go for it, because you don't find many doctors like that!

Again, YAY JUSTINE!

Ask for a referral to a gynecological oncologist. I just went through this last year and the year before. The first surgery was for a mass of ulcerated cysts (17) and a large cyst, like orange sized, on my right ovary. It was emergency surgery four months after having 16cm of small intestine resected from an intestinal blockage, totally unrelated. It was actually worse pain than the blockage. I tried for three days to work through the pain. It was so bad I ended up needing a nurse in my room overnight to tell me to hit to button for the morphine every 15 mins. 7 months later I have some pain in my left side and I'm sure I can feel a firm area. The last four abdominal surgeries I had, they told me they had reduced a cyst on my left ovary.

I scheduled an appt with my gyno to prove to myself that I was just being silly, and loe and behold they found a tumor the size of a cantaloupe on my left ovary. He told me that after all the surgeries I'd already had, he honestly didn't want any part of opening me up again, not to panic, but he was referring me to one of two surgeons in the western states he trusted to do it, and one of them was an oncologist. My bloodwork came back neg for cancer already, or I think I would have passed out on the spot.

He told me that oncologists were so used to getting every little spec of cancer that had grown into other organs, or were stuck to other organs, and putting everything back together the right way, or repairing something that went wrong. That was going to be my best bet at a successful surgery. Turns out the one guy he wanted me to talk to was close, just an hour and a half away. He was even able to do the surgery laparoscopically. My gyno told me this oncologist was prolly the only one in the country who would try it that way instead of opening me completely up again.
