Saw the storm south of the border on radar. Dang. Sorry you're still getting slammed.

This morning, there was actual SUNSHINE and the temp is moderate. Went out to the garden, and found myself singing Jethro Tull's "Bungle in the Jungle." It's very densely green out there.

Our creek is back in it's banks and flowing under the bridge again. It is still too wet to go down into the bottom field to check out how much fencing has washed out.

The sun is shining!

The area around here is doing good. Usually in hgh water, the Blackwater creek goes out over 23 highway. In our area of Johnson County it has been perfect rain. At the Lake House NE of Warsaw we had heavy rain and it just raised the lake area up several inches but no problems. We are very thankful for the amount of rain we have had and sorry for all the flooding and storms the rest have gotten. Prayers for you all.

Wish you could push some of this excess water north. I get nothing but drizzle and sprinkles here, and not much of either.

I thought I would chime in here and just say that we are still here, alive and NOT floating...yet.

We hired Emily's sister to farm sit for us last weekend while we went to a goat show in TN. The poor girl did chores all 4 times in the RAIN. It was the first weekend in August, who'd have thought?

Anyway, we live in a valley with wet weather springs, a creek running through the property, and 4 low water slabs between us and the blacktop. We have had lots of rain but none to trap us in or out. However, the Hwy between us and Mountain Grove has been closed all week with water over the road from the Bryant Creek. This has proved inconvenient but not life shattering.

BTW, Krikett, my daughter's doe, won Res. Grand Champion Sr. Doe at the show in TN. There were 90 Nigerian does showing in that show, so I thought that was quite a feat!

Been missing you guys!

We had been trying to get south to look at some property all week. Couldn't get there from here with out driving 60 miles out of the way. They finally got 63 open Friday afternoon, as far as I know 50 East is still closed at Mt Sterling, although it should be opening soon.

All the farmers up and down the Gasconade bottoms lost their crops. It a shame everyone to the South of I44 got too much rain, and those North of 70 that really needed it got almost none. I guess we all should be happy that we did not have another year like the last.

I got this email from MoDOT this morning...

All lanes of U.S. 50 are now open in Osage County.

Good News for those up north.

Its funny we get nice rain nothing to fear nothing washing out close into town, everything is lovely green and growing. Now my goat friends 8 miles from town going north have gotten little to no rain and I have to worry because they are also my hay people.
Then I worry bout you all cause flooding is/can be an unstoppable force that scares the beejesus outta me, so you all be careful down there!

Bright sun today BUT rain in the forecast through Tuesday. Wednesday looks to be the day we start back into drought!! You think that I am kidding but in this area we are always just about 1 week away from drought. Dry, open woodlands is what they call it. For August it is amazing to see how green everything is...goats have plenty of fresh forage, too. Nice to see the sun for a change...
