So true! Beans are flattened on the ground but my jalepeno's are thriving.
Will be glad when the rain stops. I've had to dig a few trenches around the house to redirect the flow.

Oh my......it rained most of the night again, hard. I just got done here with the farmsitting chores, taking hay to each goat shed for use as fooder/bedding. No way are they coming out to the feeders in this and their houses are getting flooded.
Grabbing a set of dry clothes and a cup of coffee, then heading off to see if I can get into my place. Be safe y'all!!

We lost 19 quails, who drowned; and we saved 11 more who were nearly dead. I have dug a bunch of trenches, and we put tarps over the cages. For some reason, they did not go into their shelters.

I have family in Edgar Springs, and haven't heard anything from them in about a week, what's the situation there? Are they flooded badly too?

My DH has been working lots of hours the last few days due to the rain. It's rough and doesn't seem to be getting much better. Closing a lot of roads. I think if you can stay home (Rolla area) in that area I definitely would.

I have been worried about the animals as well. Sorry to hear you lost the birds.

I lost 3 birds last week that drowned. They didn't go into their house either.

Hard to believe but we got about 9 inches last night!!! It was amazing! Like I said, we are high up and we drain quickly, but this was amazing! Mac built up around the outside of the little kids shelter trying to move the water away from their doorway...it helped some, but we still had water get in there...the girls were up on their platform! Big girls were fine...boys were good because we dug a trench sometime back that channels the water away...it held even in this rain. This is a first for us and we have been here 15 years. Our LGD, Beau, is a water baby and he has a swimming pool to play in down at the boys' shelter...it was empty yesterday...overflowing today. I think we need to be more specific in our prayers about "how much" water we are needing!

We were going to head down to Salem today; put it off till tomorrow. May have to change it again. The Gasconade river comes up thrpough this area, and although it hasn't rained an inch here in the last month, the river drains most of the area that did get all the rain. Looks like a lot of places up east of us my get flooded tomorrow.

This is a link to a map of all the (state) road closings:

Click on the small map to make it page size, then go to your area.

DH called and said when I head home to expect a lot of traffic on 63 as they are detouring around area's further north. Be sure and check out that map 0&itw posted before taking off anywhere in central MO.

One guess where my house is. This has been happening every day. Woohoo. My Bermuda is growing faster than my horses can eat it. I don't even have to rotate.

Re-post of the State road closings. This is an active link.
It only shows state roads, and none of the countless county road fords and bottoms that are flooding.

Some of the road closings now are in the East central part of the state which didn't get that much rain but is where the Maries (pronounced "marys"), Osage, and Gasconade river flow; draining many of the area that did get flooded. Mostly the problems are bottom-land areas which affect Highways 63, 89,50, and many "lettered" roads.

It looks as if at 7 am this morning there are many roads closed in the Central and southern part of the state also.

I just had to park my car at home and borrow a truck to use for running back and forth between my chores and my farmsitting job. The roads getting washed out every night with flooding rains are making it impossible to drive with my car. I passed a dairy this morning that I have passed every 2 weeks or so all year. Today there was a river flowing in the place of peaceful fields. Washed away all the fences in its way. The roads had flooded sometime overnight and after the water receded, left logs and large rocks in the road.
Pony, if you try to get to our place, be aware there is a HUGE hole in the road right before Beaver Creek bridge. You shouldn't go over it in anything less than a truck and even then very slowly. No way to avoid it anymore. The bridge has been uncrossable the last three mornings, but usually the water goes down by later morning.

We were hoping the county would come out and move the gravel bar off our bridge and maybe the 2 trees also. No such luck. Hubby took the tractor down and made a path thru the gravel bar and pushed the trees to the side. There is a 3' culvert a little farther down that is completely uncovered and millions of big rocks all over the road.

Hubby's sister is coming from Vermont. We told her to wait in Ohio 2 days ago due to all the flooding. She is now in Louisville and wants to come in tomorrow. There are still several highways flooded all around us. She isn't going to know what to think about us hillbillies of Missouri and our wonderful roads.

Worked on cleanup all evening here with the chainsaw. I climbed ladders and cut big broken limbs out of the trees. Now I'm to sore to move.

Wow. That's the concrete one I hate b/c there are no siderails, right? Well, I won't be trying that for a while, then.

Things on the Ridge are okay; we can still get the cars over the incredible ruts the rains cut across the road. If Nick can make it in the Buick, we're good to go. Glad I don't have to drive into WP today. Yesterday's morning rain was so bad, I had to peel my fingers off the steering wheel when I got there.

Scary.

Yup, it's a mess out there. Only a couple of the Booger County roads are marked, yet I am quite sure there are many more flooded/washed out areas. Looks like they've marked nothing in Howell, but our staff couldn't get in to some patients b/c of the washes and fast-running water.

Be careful, people. I can't think of anything short of attempting to save someone's life that is worth the risk of taking your car across moving water on the road.
