I do appreciate the input- it makes me think a little deeper. I decided that I would not do a daily shot for 2 or 3 months- simply couldn't. Thanks Minelson- it helped to get over the guilty paralysis of "I won't do this" but "I can't do anything else."
So I asked my go to vet to think about something else- I told her I couldn't to the daily shot thing. And, even though she was going on vacation and was pretty overwhelmed, she did come up with something else to try.
Tim's mange has gone through Ivermectin treatments (many, many times), synegized lice treatments, daily ointment applications, etc. There was something that really worked- lime sulfer dip (actaully sprayed on) in conjunction with double dose Ivermec Plus shots (not orally.)
But after she went through the course of three treatments, I wimped out on the shots, which must sting like heck, and thought that, as so much progress had been made, I'd continue with just oral Ivermectin. That is when the weight loss started and I was afraid to try again when the weather finally warmed enough to bathe her this year. So the mange has been gradually coming back.
If this treatment works on whatever infection she has, I 'll try to squeeze in some mange treatments before it gets cold again.
At least the CL test came back negative again so that's one worry I don't have.
yarrow, DamnearaFarm and Minelson like this.
