I change this to "chores 2x per day, every day, for 12 months out of the year. Sleet or shine, injury or in health." Since I cut my does down to once a day milking starting in July when the temps near or reach *100. But yes, the chores are ALWAYS there after you get livestock. If you can't handle that, you shouldn't have bought them.

Good post!!
Me, too! I agree!

Karla milks once a day with no issues, but they do still have to be tended to 7 days a week.

My issues are that they are so nosey and have to get into my truck when I come ion with hay, or grain for the hogs. No such thing as going thru a gate being just me. I always call ahead and have one of the girls waiting to open the gate so I can get in and out.

We added a couple of young Boer does and plan to bet a couple more and move one milker. 2 give far more milk than we can consume.

Karla sold her favorite kid yesterday, so the hard part is over for her. the rest will go easy.

They are entertaining but are just as much of a PIA. Kinda balances out I guess.

Great post, a neighbor to the saw mill I work at keeps goats. I think last week, or maybe the week before, a couple of the goats were up on an old CAT skidder eating the seat. although his goats are kept in with hog panels and t-posts effectively.

The one Doe you want on the stand will not go but the others will fight to be first on the stand.
The second you bend over to tie your boot the younger youthful goats will see you as a spring board and thus use you as such.
