We went out last night and left Ginny with a friend of ours. We premade the bottle and told her what time to feed her, how much, just let her sleep, keep her wrapped up, and only unwrap her if she peed on her towels and blankets, then wrap her right back up and snuggle with her. Got home around 7 this morning and picked Ginny up, still in blanket, and the blanket was wet on the bottom! Ok its time to get her a warm blanket. When I unwrapped her, she didn't feel warm. Got her a warm blanket and put her in front of a space heater trying to elevate her temp. Wasn't working fast enough. Ran a tub of 102 degree water and put her in a bag to keep her from getting wet and submerged her body into the water. Left her there for 10 minutes. She started looking alert and moving so I thought maybe she was going to be okay. I grabbed a warm blanket, wrapped her and placed her a heating pad and put her in the bed between me and DH to regulate her temp. We fell asleep around 9 and when he woke up at 11 she was dead He woke me up very upset. This was a baby that he brought life to and now there was nothing else that either of us could do for her WAY too much heart break over the last three days!

What a rollercoaster ride. I know too well that horrible feeling of losing a goat despite all possible efforts. Sometimes we just can't save them. So hard. The upside is that you learned so much from this experience that you will be all the better prepared if you should ever have a goat emergency again.

I lost a doe just over a year ago and still tear up when I think about her. <Hugs>
