Definitely register him, because when you are done with him, you probably won't be able to re-sell him, unless he is registered.
Only some bucks are worthy of being bucks, and those are going to be pretty expensive. However, you can get your purchase price back (and then some, if he has nice daughters) when you are done and re-sell him. The prices of kid sales pay for his and the does' feed for the year.
