Portable Cow Milking Machine.
Single Piston Type Milking Machine.
Steel Frame. 8-10 Cows Per Hour. Standard 3 Pin Plug. 220/240Volt, 550watt Motor.
Complete with Milking Cups, Pressure Gauge and Stainless Steel Milk Tank. It has cow cups on but I can change over to goat cups if I want. We don't need it for another year but it came along and grabbed it while I can. I'll start off hand milking first though (for the experience

Where did you get it, and what did it cost?

I would love to get a vacuum pump rig but cost vs supply makes that a no.
I bought a Segal and it did come in handy when I had 3 goats to milk and had to be at work by 6am. Problems with it...I have yet to figure out why it won't milk them out completely I was having to finish them off by hand.
I have made simple hand pump rigs, the 1st Maggidan's worked much better and when I had to milk out on a goat with mastitis it REALLY helped there the second one I bought doesn't milk them out completely either (sigh)
I am currently milking one goat and I do that by hand a FF with 3 fingers it goes pretty quick, Pebbles is a little weird though she prefers that I hold her right hind leg up while I milk. Place milk bucket under her, lift leg and away we go.
I wonder at times if the milkers don't work as well on the Doe's I have now because they are nubian, the breed I used it on before were saanen's or saanen cross.
IMO teat size, shape, and length make a difference in ease of hand milking or other using other equipment.
My only concern with using a vacuum powered pump would be injury to the teat.

We never had a problem with any sort of goat, we milked Nubians, LaManchas and Alpines, they all milked out well. However we used a regular cow claw and inflations/teat cups.
If the milking machine is set up properly and you follow a good milking procedure, teat damage should be nil.
coso likes this.
