I wonder why goats would show symptoms of copper deficiency when they have good copper minerals available?? I'm not arguing.. I love trying to figure stuff like this out
What were my goats craving when they ate the fiberglass insulation...cotton candy maybe
Maybe you body needs some vit B?
Unfiltered beer has plenty. I think zink can bind up the copper. I wanted to ask why do you do not believe that animals would not get what they need?

This is an excellent discussion! Thanks to all who have contributed.
Minelson: I do not know why you crave the things you do, but I would love to hang around with you!
Caliann: Thanks for being so willing to share all the stuff you know! I hope that man of yours gets real and let's you have your Spec...whatever and the DNA-thingy. Boys are just selfish.

Yes, if I had a lot of land for my goats to range over and find the the plants containing the things they need, I wouldn't be so anal about supplements. However, my goats have a dry lot. Their food options are grass hay, alfalfa hay and on the stand they get oats and BOSS. Not a lot of options for hunting down vitamin and mineral rich food sources. So part of my management has be making sure they get everything they need.

I take vitamin B complex.

I think animals don't get what they need because they show symptoms of deficiency. Flaky skin, faded coats, fish tails, worms to name a few.
