Little Mr Poopy Butt is feeling a tad better. I saw him nibbling browse. I gave him a dose of probios to re-establish the gut flora.

I was looking at him today and he seems to have a really large belly from his spine downwards. Not so much side to side. When he lays down he stays up on his sternum or knees. His belly must be really uncomfortable. I didn't hear teeth grinding or crying out tonight.

Anyone have any other ideas of what to try?

When I gave mine the Baking soda & mineral oil the vet said his tummy would be upset a day or so because of the diarrhea & to give him Pepto bismol. My guy was back to normal from start to finish in about 2 days.

Seems all the diarrhea he couldn't have bloat now, especially after all the oil. I agree with Caliann & try the Pepto & see how he feels.

I wanted to add that I did have to dose my wether 2 different times with the mineral oil, pepto & baking soda. Figured once would do it but had to do it again the next morning. The next day he was like a new boy.

He isn't 100% but he is much better. He was hungry this morning and was headbutting his siblings. Still moving gingerly but he is on the mend.

I gave him another dose of probios. I need to run to the store for pepto. His bottom is dry this am so I am not sure if he still has diarrhea.

Now to figure out what caused this problem......blockage I assume. His belly is soft and normal today.

Goats, especially young one's will put anything in their mouth. If there was piece of cardboard around that he could get to he might chew on that & eat some, not saying there's cardboard around your place just trying to give examples.

The diarrhea once everything is through his system should stop. The pepto will help sooth his stomach as well as help with the diarrhea. He just might have been too impacted.

So glad he's feeling better now though. Sounds like exactly what I went through with my wether back in November. I never figured out what caused his problem either. Mine is a big boy, a little on the chunky side & 2 years old but we Love him.

This kid is/was 37 lbs at 9 weeks old. His siblings are about 25 lbs or so. His is just a really big kid and eats like a kid. His mother will just stand and let him eat till he walks away where the other two does will let their kids nurse for just a few minutes and then the does walk away.

Hopefully, he just keeps improving. Who knows what he might have eaten. Can't wait till he is back to his old obnxious self though.

Thanks for all the advise and input and helping my little guy get well!

Carla
