A Warning Notice
 

My vet just informed me that he will be gone the last week of February. That is when all of my girls are due. I'm just letting all of you know that you are not allowed to go anywhere from February 22 to March 2. I'll have 10 does due. I'm counting on you all to be there if I need help. I gave you all plenty of time to re-do your schedules. No excuses.

I appreciate your cooperation.

I will not make any plans but I do have to go to work M/W/F 8-1pm.. Oh and I take a nap daily around 2ish. :)

I had not decided when to take a nice tropical vacation but now I will plan for Feb. 22nd ;)

Kidding I will probably still be fighting with the insurance company and have plenty of cooch checking, groping, plunging experience :)

Hope they kindly go in the daytime with lots of doelings.

You all are so awesome. Every time my vet leaves something bad happens. He said he'd load me up with whatever I need though. I guess I need to start calling him before I breed to make sure nothing is scheduled. He already thinks I'm crazy.

Ask him for another vet to call *just in case*? He may know of another local vet to work with...?

I hope you find a backup vet just in case!

And wow, that's a lot of does all in a short time period-congrats! My goats thought that they would spread things out for me this year...

I'll be here. My Honeysuckle is due March 1, so I'll be right there with you, sleeping in a shed cuddled up with a goat so I don't miss it. It will be only the third kidding here.

On the bright side, my Dryna always waits for me to decide there's no way she's doing anything today so I can finally go grab a sandwich or some coffee or something and then quickly drops a buck or two.

There is one other vet in the county and he won't do farm animals any more. There is another vet in the next county. He's an hour away and the only vet in that county.

andabigmac, tell your vet you need to have these things, on hand, just in case:

Oxytocin
Thiamin
Bo-Se
CMPK (injected)
Banamine

Everything else can be gotten from the feed stores or online...but if he is going to have a vacation during kidding season, he NEEDS to make sure you are stocked up on those in case of emergency.

Oh, that is great! I have one due the first of March.
There was a thread here about "when are your goats due". Something like that. You could probably find that thread and see how many will be on watch at that time.

I have everything on hand except Ringers which he won't give me. I've never really asked for the big stuff because I figured that if there was that major of a problem I would call him the first time and learn to do everything properly. I've never had anything but nose and toes here so far. I wonder if you could use the saline that they use at the human hospital? Hmmmm.... DH has connections.

He's actually going to a mandatory training. He was on a family vacation when Ali was born.

Mine are due to start feb 28, which means several will start acting like they are going to pop any minute starting around mid feb or sooner. Just have to keep me on my toes you know.
