Iggy and Ozzy

We had the best time having lunch with Gena and Jerry!

More pics tomorrow as I have to get out there and do evening chores. John doesn't feel well--this is what happens when a vegetarian pigs out on fish and shrimp!

For now, here's a quick glimpse of the boys.

So are you keeping them inside? Please keep posting pictures :) :)

Dizzy...black spots...oh Lord...the cuteness....

~THUNK!~

Dreamgoat Annie 12/29/12 06:51 PM

Yep, they're in our bottle baby crate set up in the living room where it's toasty warm. It's a really big dog crate with a top that folds open for easy access. At one time or another it's housed every puppy, bottle kid and bottle lamb we've ever had, starting with our first Chow pup in 1971.

These are by far my tiniest goats, ever!

I plan to house train them, though we'll go with indoor pads for awhile. There's no way I'd take these little tykes out in the snow! Here's an old Hobby Farms Online/Martok blog about when we pad-trained Kerla:

They are enormous compared to 3 weeks ago! That's why I wanted to wait and make sure they would do well. Ozzy, at 1#, was the smallest ND kid I have had that lived.

And it was GREAT meeting you and John as well. Thanks for the books, too. Katie asked if the extra Cow books were for "the hope chests" :goodjob:. I told her I was sure that would be fine!

Thanks again!

<LOL> By all means! Actually, I have a box of them (Storey sends me a box of each title) and don't know that many people getting into family cows (it's an introductory book, though I think people who already have cattle will enjoy the fun-stype sidebars). I figured you could distribute them to people who can use them.

I am filled with Joy! And my back is much better! I think I should look into moving down to the Ozarks. If hubby could find a job there, I would move there to be closer to so many of you all. That would just be so great :)

andabigmac 12/29/12 07:17 PM

That is just cuteness overload. They look like trouble though. I wouldn't keep anything important on your coffee table for a while.

We don't have a coffee table. The lowest things in the house are the sofa and chairs and we keep those pulled back away from the kitchen counters.

Learned that with our first bottle babies, Salem and Shiloh. We'd only had lambs up to that point and they don't climb. I went to the bathroom once and came out to find Salem on top of the 'fridge. He'd jumped from the floor to a step stool to the counter to a bread box to the top of the 'fridge in less than two unsupervised minutes.

One of them chewed up a writing contract just a few days later and they also chewed the indoor telephone wire in two.

They taught us that Boer kids scream like tortured babies when you give them a shot (that was Shiloh and we were sure we'd killed him.

Those two set the stage for all who followed. I guess that's why losing Shiloh earlier this month was so doggoned hard.

Isn't it fun, spreading the goat/dog/horse/cat /cattle addiction? I think I have my grand daughters hooked for good. I know I've got my son.

Minelson 12/29/12 09:18 PM

I just can't stop looking at them!! >gush<

GoatJunkie 12/29/12 10:59 PM

Oh they are so little!!! And sooooooo darling!

Donna1982 12/29/12 11:44 PM

Oh they are so cute.

thaiblue12 12/30/12 09:04 AM

Oh they are so cute and tiny, or your husband has large hands :)

What do they weigh now?

Congrats on new babies.

They are NDs and they were born 2 weeks preemie, 3 weeks ago. The one on the left was 1# at birth and the other was 2#. They are small, but dynamite comes in small packages! :bouncy:

Minelson 12/30/12 10:11 AM

Sue, I bet you are just having a blast with those two today!! I hope John feels better so he can enjoy them! :)

Hannah90 12/30/12 10:44 AM

I am within 6-8 hours of the Ozarks. I feel like I should drive down there and have a meet and greet. SO many of you fine folks live there.

You are SO right, Gena. Wow, are they active!

We're heading to town to Wal-Mart for a pair of dog sweaters to fit them--everything I have is too big or too small, wouldn't you know--but when we get back, we'll shoot more pictures.

I tried my super-warm lamb covers on the boys and the covers were huge. The trailer can be drafty, so I like to sweater or coat bottle babies at least at night.

Last night I swathed their crate with a blanket. They made it clear they didn't like being treated like parrots.

Okay, here you go! The pictures aren't very sharp as it's cold outdoors, so I shot them here in the house. Ozzy top, Iggy middle, both at the bottom.

Oh kill me! so adorable! They look so dainty! :)

Mickey 12/30/12 04:37 PM

So very cute :) How on earth did you dare to disbud such tiny little things? I would have been scared to death!

I did it. I wouldn't have done it at 2 weeks but I felt secure in doing it at 3. They did fine. Nursed the bottle and the next morning you would never have known anything was different.

Mickey 12/30/12 09:22 PM

Wow. :goodjob:
