I am multitasking. I had to stop long enough to nurse my own baby. These are the pics from my phone. Flip is awake and in our bathtub on a comforter. Vet said she has to say warm today because of the anesthesia.
I knew I broke his jaw and at that point I loaded my girl with sub-Q CMPK and 50% Dextrose and headed to the vet. It was about 6 a.m. Flip did great. The key was knowing that this was beyond me.
My due date for her was a month ago....So, obviously she helped herself. When she went past her original date I knew this was a possibility but there was no way of knowing. I am glad I made the call I did. Thanks for all of the efforts here. Some how it made the whole thing easier just knowing you all were here!!
Double thanks to EMILY!!!

I have those exact same boots! Boggs...right?
They both look so vulnerable! My goodness. So when you get a chance, please explain the button contraption for the jaw.
We had a Yorkie at the vet clinic whose jaw broke while trying to pull rotten teeth during a dental. We used one of those nylon muzzles to hold the jaw together and fed him with a syringe until it healed. It worked great. But, that was a little 5 lb Yorkie. How much does this buckling weigh?
And what are you going to name him?....Buttons? lol!

I am in the pickup with DH headed to Sue. I was thinking that wee would name him Bruiser (as in "Bruiser Her")
The vet sewed a button in on both sides to hold the jaw together. I broke it on the left side and the right button just gave her something to snug the bone together with. The bone wasn't big enough to pin.
Yes, my boots are Boggs. I love them.

After he was on the heating pad and we were sure he was breathing ok, the vet held his legs up under his jaw like a normally presenting kid in the birth canal. It was quite obvious even if both legs and the head had been presented, that kid would never have come through that pelvis. They sure made the right call.
Mama and baby are going to need a lot of babying for weeks, I imagine. But for what they went through, they look great!

Gena,
While you and Katy were working on Flip after the C-section, I was helping Sally sew his jaw on the heating pad. She actually found that it was broken on both sides and separated. She sewed through the bottom of the jaw(between the two bones of the lower jaw), and from side to side using the buttons to keep the sutures from pulling through his baby skin and to hold the tiny bones together. She said her hope was that she could bring the shattered bone close enough together so they could heal well enough for him to function adequately or maybe even well. It looked really good when she finished with it. That was a cool trick with the buttons. She actually keeps a supply in the office for such times! The things you learn.....

Sadly, Emily said the same thing. The buck didn't get to her, she went to him. This doe and another that is now 2 1/2 years could go through a cattle panel for a longer time. This experience has caused me to devise a plan to cover the lower holes around my standard buck pens. Geez!
I wasn't worried at all until last month when her due date came and left. Then I had to wonder about the possibilities.
She stood in the back of my Escape all the way to the vet. Please, don't wait until your doe is half dead, and exhausted. This was HARD and my doe was in good shape!

Yikes! So glad that everything came out ok and my best wishes for a speedy recovery for both mom and baby.
I have a pygmy doe who, many years ago, got bred accidentally. I had two bucks at the time - a pygmy and a Saanen - who were in a pen surrounded by five foot cattle panels (the kind with the smaller holes at the bottom).
I didn't even realize that Muffin had gotten bred until she was "showing." At that time, I didn't know about lute, but from what I understand, by the time I realized she was pregnant, it would have been too late to use it anyway.
To this day, I have no idea how she got bred. I knew the bucks had not gotten out, or if they did, then they put themselves back in, too, and we all know that wasn't going to happen.
So, she either got in with them somehow and then got back out.....or she backed up to the panel. All I could do was keep my fingers crossed that it was "Bucky" (the pygmy) who got her and not "Jack" (the Saanen).
I was at work when I got a call from my son telling me that Muffin was having her babies and that they were Jack's. I said, "No way!" And my son said, "Mom......they're all white."
She had four perfect little white babies - three boys and a girl. No problems whatsoever, but I think the fact that she had so many kept them small enough that she was able to have them easily. Not like having one single HUGE baby.
Again, so glad that Gena's story had a happy ending, too.

Yes, was one of quads so one would hope she wouldn't have one HUGE BUCK kid! Singles do cause problems...

In the midst of it all, my DD said, after I called Minelson to post..."Yarrow will be lighting candles and dancing naked in the moonlight!" It was so nice just to laugh, especially in the midst of the tension. Thanks for that! We were driving thru hills and curves dodging deer and laughing out-loud!

The preemies were born three weeks ago today. They were 2 weeks early and 1# and 2#. once we got them nice and warm...they never missed a beat. They went to their forever home this afternoon.
I told my DH a little while ago that it seems we never have more than one "charity case" at a time. The little guys leave and we get Bruiser. Life is NEVER dull.

and had you called me... I honestly would have gotten naked and got out there under that full moon...just cause it was YOU...needing help LOL...
we've only had the one c-section (THANKFULLY one was enough!).. I decided really quickly with her.. as soon as I felt one huge head ... we had issues.. I actually shoved his feet BACK IN.. spread them apart, so he couldn't come out again .. loaded her into my car and headed for the vet...
the neighbors ND had problems 7 or so years ago.. she went longer then she should have BEFORE we headed to the vet.. she was already down.. I road 15 miles on some of the curve-est roads in the area.. the neighbor kept trying to dodge squirrels.. did a miserable job of dodging..killed FOUR, but the dodging threw me & the doe all over!!.. I was in the back of their mini-van.. with my hand inside that doe.. (I could tell the *stuck* kid.. just front feet, head back.. was still alive).. I was afraid she was going to push so hard, she would snap it's neck.. so I just kept my hand in the way ... got her there (we could barely carry her in).. c-section.. triplets.. all 3 alive.. mom did fine..

I'm so glad the vet could save them both & their doing so well! But the poor things I can't imagine how bad they are going to feel over the next few days or weeks until they heal up good.
He's a Big One for sure, Bruiser is a perfect name! We had a big single buckling a couple years ago & I named him Moose. He was a Monster compared to the babies that were born a week before him. I fell in Love with him, wethered him & he's still here.
