Update. I was called at 1:17 this morning. She thought she was getting close with strong, hard contractions every two minutes with one-two min duration. Midwife got there and she was only 1.5 cm dialated. This same thing happened to my mom and my other sister. We waiting until day light, but the midwife suggested we go to the hospital. She, mom, and her husband are on their way there now. She has been in labor a total of 57 hours at this point. The MW felt she needed some pain meds so she could sleep. I guess she's not even technically in active labor. So, she is still working through it. It has been so hard to see her go through this! MW said the baby is still doing fine. Strong heart beat, etc. I guess it's not really a complication yet, just an annoyance. Keep ya'll posted.

at the hospital and she's 2 cm dilated after they stripped her membranes. They aren't being very kind, and it is quite upsetting. I feel so bad for her having to go this route. In some ways it feels like she is being "punished" for trying to do home birth, and having to come in this way. Maybe I am just being sensitive, but this is NOT a welcoming, warm environment.

No, she didn't want to interfere with what is going on there. It can usually only make things worse in her experience. I just hope this is over soon with a healthy baby and maybe it can go better next time if she so chooses to go this direction again.

Poor girl! I feel so bad for her. Hospitals don't react kindly to mothers who attempt to home birth and have to transfer.

Well, I finally made it back to the hospital after taking care of things at home. They gave her pitocin just a few minutes ago and she is going to opt for the epidural since pit can make contractions super contractions. So, we're probably lookin' at an xmas eve baby.

Can we talk about this birthing suite though? OH MY! Huge with a pull out queen size bed. I haven't slept since 1:17 this morning, and I think I am just running on adrenaline still. It's going to hit me tomorrow when I'm supposed be going to my boyfriend's family xmas.

Glad momma went to the hospital but it's too bad they aren't being very nice. Hope there's a healthy baby soon!

*giggle* everything is fine. Leilani is a VERY robust and healthy 8 month old. Mom lost her milk after a month, and she has been raised on our raw goat milk ever since. She's never been sick or even had a fever outside of teething fever.

Awww, how sweet. That is so cool as I have read before that goat milk is TERRIBLE for babies... I don't agree though. And little Leilani proves it!!
