Have you tried posting a found ad on Craigslist or look in the lost and found part and see if someone lost her? I feel for you, if you were closer I would come take her off your hands and put her in our isolation pen.

I wish someone would dump a nice dairy goat on my farm! I say test her and, if healthy, keep and enjoy her. She deserves a loving home

Well the mystery deepens... My neighbor who is doing water said she was there this morning but when I got there to feed she was gone. It makes me wonder if she is local and no one will claim her or if she has kids stashed somewhere. I looked around and tried the 'find the babies' with my one LGD. But no luck and I to get back to work.
My neighbors saw no one come around but are going to keep an eye out.

I had brought everything to collect blood and now there is no dang goat to get it from.

The registry has not gotten a call back from the owners on record yet.

Now that is really weird. I wonder if she does have babies somewhere...Do goats hide babies like cats do? That is just too strange.

Maybe she was an escapee goat from someone with not great fencing and then she found your goats good company and has now moved on. Goats can travel for miles and miles if they are let loose. If she comes back, maybe you could confine her in some way (dog kennel?) and put some ads up at the local feed & farm supply stores with her picture.

My does would leave their kids stashed in the barn while they grazed, up until the kids were about 2 weeks old. Maybe that's what this doe is doing.

Well she didn't go far, a bit less then half a mile. She got into the ditch and did not want to climb back out probably due to her hooves. I had a leash in my car and dragged her up the incline and then walked her back to my place. She walked very well on the leash which tells me that at some point she was well taken care of and trained.

I forgot I no longer have a "rubber" to wrap around her neck to draw blood. I tried using the leash and doing it by myself and that did not work out well. I will go to the vet tomorrow and get one and see if someone can hold her for me.

I saw the other tattoo it looks like it says X1, so how old does that make her? **** Ok I found it myself, she was born in '07 and she is 5 going on 6, if I found the correct info
ADGA was closed when I found her and that tattoo, I have not heard back from them but I am going to call them tomorrow.

You don't need to tie anything around her neck to draw blood. Just put your thumb on the vein and press a bit, the vein will pop out and the draw with the other hand. I would think it wouldn't be comfortable to have something tied around her neck tight enough to show he vein.

Purebred dairy saanen.... Oh to have your problems here!

Okay someone PMed me and told me this was a rude thing to post here, so I'm sorry if it came off bad. I just meant that I love saanan goats, nothing about any other troubles you may be going through. I apologize.

That doe looks nice body wise but a little boney.

The udder hard to say but the teats look small but maybe she hasn't freshened for a while.

If she's not a repository for disease she might be worth keeping.

ADGA should be able to tell you the last owner. You would have to have the last recorded owner transfer the ownership to you I think for you to claim title to her.

Email them with the tatoo?

I did not get offended, so no worries.

Kris that is how the vet taught me to draw blood, he did not do it tight and it leaves you a free hand to hold them with. I will try to press and get a vein but I am going to have to get a neighbor to hold her, she is about double my weight and can pull me if I am doing something she does not like

LOL, I was actually thinking I wouldn't mind this particular problem either. Obviously Thai has more on her plate than a dumped goat, but I would take the dumped goat problem.

I think "dumped" is a safe assumption on this girl. Her feet are terribly neglected, she's underfed, not productive and clearly aborted recently (I'd guess due to lack of food and general poor nutrition-- not necessarily disease as a first thought.)-- someone has been treating her like trash and threw her away. Very sad.

Can anyone near Thai help her out by either taking the doe off her hands-- or someone with more time to coordinate find the doe another foster home?

Gosh I wish you were closer--I would LOVE to have her--I've been looking for a Saanen for 2 years--they are just unaffordable around me.

I believe (and I could be wrong) that Thai is going to disease test her and if she comes out clean she is considering keeping her. That was my understanding anyway. She really needs a place to quarantine her or more fencing so she can make a quarantine area.

Go buy 3 16' stock panels. Take a set of bolt cutters and cut one in half.

Get some of the nylon zip ties and connect the stock panels together but leave one of the 8' ones loose on one end and use a bungee cord to secure it as a door lock.

On one end put a bunch of straw. Then take some zip ties or bungee cords and secure a plastic tarp over your staw sleeping area.

Wala! Temporary isolation pen.

Good idea but I have no way of getting them home, my neighbor who has a trailer just had surgery and I do not want to bother him. Plus I am currently bleeding money due to the idiotic insurance company who are dragging their feet, and now trying to tell me that my house is worth half of what the actual value is. Still have to pay the mortgage on a house that isn't there since the mortgage will not defer a payment either. I am trying so hard not to lose my temper but it is becoming difficult.

Funny how when there was a hail storm and my house was damaged it was worth a lot more to them so they hit me with an " Act of God" 1% percent deductible instead of the 1,000 it was suppose to be!

We also found evidence or really bad wiring in the house since someone came along and started stealing copper and wiring out of it.

Sorry I am venting..... I did call ADGA again, she tried the owners on record and still no answer or call back.

Can you draw blood and then call animal control to come and get her?
