Well the garden is done and I have no flowers as I have little goats that LOVE to eat flowers.. lol... But yes they do cause all sorts of grief around here and I do worry about them getting in with the horses and getting stepped on.

We have not gotten any replamin yet but I told him he HAD to order it yesterday because my baby goats need the supplement asap. So hopefully it will be here in a day or so.

Any ideas on how much of the dex to give him?? I am beginning to think the same he has some swelling around his feet and as of right now it isn't going to do anything but help relieve the pain. I can hardly sit in the living room sometimes because he is grinding his teeth so much and it makes me soo sad to hear him in so much pain. (I am guessing it is pain)

For *goats*, dosage is 1 ml per 20lbs IM. I don't know if it is the same for pigs. Any dosage instructions on the label?

ETA: And yes, teeth grinding generally indicates pain. There may be something internally wrong with him. Could he have gotten hit or hurt by another animal? Mineral deficiency in young animals does not generally cause pain... more just causes "blahs" that get worse.

Caliann,
No there aren't any dosage instructions on the label but I am looking online for any information on dosage it says 1-2.5 mls for swine... I am thinking I will give 1 cc because that's all I have seen online.. Nothing by weight on pigs I guess because you generally don't have a method to weigh pigs...

Cannon_Farms,
I gave him 4 cc of LA 200 a few hours ago. I have a guy that helped me deliver the babies and when I spoke to him this afternoon he said to give him the LA200 for 3 days and if he isnt well by then to hit him over the head with a shovel...
Unfortunately, I can NOT do that to any critter ever!!! But he did do a GREAT job helping with labor and delivery of the babies so I can't complain...

I wonder if a bit of yogurt might be helpful. His tummy is already in a rumble, and with the antibiotic, the live cultures could replace what he's losing due to treatment.

Oh, and does anyone know if banamine will help a piglet? If he's grinding his teeth, he could probably use some.

Merck Veterinary Manual

ok I took a loratab and its kicking in so I can't do as much research tonight but here's a technical link. Its been a few years since we had pigs with this so I don't remember the dosage for the Penn but if given tonight by the morning you should see improvement

Cannon Farms,

I was banned from The Pig Site???? I don't know why I haven't ever even posted there... Makes me kind of laugh but makes me a bit agitated as well because I have no reason to be banned.....

I wouldn't worry one way or another with the banamine. I'm 99% certain of what's going on with this little dude and ya'll know how I can get hung up on something. Google has some good images of piglets with it

I will give him some yogurt and see if that helps a bit. I have been giving him banamine for pain because I don't want him to hurt. I don't think you can give penn with oxytetracycline they don't work well together??? True?? Not True???

I also read where you can give them chicken and rice for upset bellies.. Pigs digestive tracts are very similar to human digestive tracts in fact the day he had diarrhea I gave him some pepto bismal to help with his upset.
