So sorry to hear about your rough times Minelson. Praying for your dad and Gretta, and you. Whatever the outcome for Gretta, she knows you love her and are doing your best. Along with the blessing of caring for our animals sometimes comes this heavy burden. ((Hugs))

Oh Gretta we are pulling for you.
Min instead of nuflor can you get hold of a shot of Excede or Draxxin? (Sp) High cost but you know Gretta is worth it. Hugs my friend.

My Dad made it through the surgery better than expected. He is sitting up and has good color. They are going to make him walk tonight. May bea able to come home as soon as next Mon or Tues. WHEW!
Gretta has an appointment at a vet with all the state of the art equipment for large and small animals. 9am tomorrow. Hoping and praying it's just a tooth issue. (I kinda doubt it though) Please pray for Gretta. I will not put her through extreme measures. If it's something really bad I will have her put down. I will not give her Nuflor shots again.

My pygmy doe does the same mouth wiping thing. She's done is forever. Sometimes she wipes on us, some times the barn or the ground, or one of her kids. I'm guessing she doesn't like the feel of "something" on her mouth/face area and is wiping off the yuckies?
My girl is 10.5 and is definitely changing body shapes. She's a little....saggy? (Don't tell Rosie I said that ) You can feel her bones a little easier -she's def. not skinny, but just "different".
For now - try to get the ultrasound or scope done. See what is going on. If she's still willing to eat & drink, go with it! Get a diagnoses and go from there.
Do you happen to have any plantain leaves in your yard? I've had some luck with critters eating/improving a bit with these leaves. Not a miracle cure by any means, but they do help a bit. I chop mine up and feed them to what ever critter is feeling poorly (and also use them as poultices for wounds & sprains - works for humans, too)
I have a feeling you're a bit like me and stress big time when it comes to your critters!! My hubby just said to me "I could smack myself every time I say get another ______ (kitten, puppy, goat, calf)." He knows how I am - but you need to decompress a bit. Critters can feel your stress.
What relaxes you? Yoga, meditation, a nice stiff drink? Treat yourself, too. Gretta wants you to!
Prayers for you, your critters & your dad!

I know you will work hard to do the best for Gretta and if that means deciding to relieve her of her pain by putting her down, you will do it with the knowledge that it was the best for her. But it is not easy.
I'm sorry that you are having so much stress right now. I'm wafting whatever good energy I can corner in your direction.
(((hugs)))

Sherry we are starting to wonder about that. When I got her in 2007 we were told that she was 1 or 2 years old. so that would put her at 7. We are now thinking that info was wrong. She could be 10 years old for all we know considering where she came from.

Hoping for good news tomorrow from the vet's office & I'm so glad your dad is doing so well, at least that is a little weight off your shoulder for now.
My old dog before the 2 I have had a tumor in her throat, by her esophagus that made it hard for her to swallow. It was cancerous. The vet said she wasn't ready to go yet & I would know when her time was. I fed my sweet little dog meat kinds of baby food mixed with a little water so she wouldn't starve to death. I did that for a little over 6 months but she wasn't in any pain. I did know when her time was & it was the hardest thing I have ever went through I think.
What I'm trying to say Min, is don't make any decision on putting Gretta down until you know what's going on. It may be something they can fix or it may be a tumor in their blocking her throat but if she's not in pain & still getting around good, she does like your alfalfa mash & maybe that's all she needs right now & a little more time with you & the rest of the family critters.
Sending Big hugs & I'll be thinking of you & Gretta tomorrow.

I am about ready to drop from exhaustion but just wanted to chime in, my friend, for you and Gretta. All will be well tomorrow and you will know what to do that is best for you all. I hope you get the answers you seek but first I pray for a good night's sleep.
I am very pleased about your dad. Dad's are special. Take every opportunity to see your dad. Our time here is short and regrets are hard to live with. Good night.

Good morning Minelson. You have been on my mind and I just had to let ya know that I am thinking of you and Gretta. I also said a little prayer that God would lead and guide you today with Gretta. Being a good steward is really tough sometimes. I am guilty of never knowing when to say when. I hope it is something that Gretta can recover from OR live comfortably with for a long time.
Try to take a step back..pretend it's my goat..then maybe you can get perspective if the news is not great. Will be thinking of you two..
