This is Monkey...lots of pictures of her. She won Champion Reserve. Her owners were a lot of fun and we spent a lot of time with them. Monkey is beautiful and has a great personality! I wanted to sneak off with her

They are mini silky fainting goats. It's a breed. I have lots of pics of them

Ok, I don't know anything about goats, but seriously, Monkey is the cutest thing ever! I love the coloring! It must be really hard to compete against a goat with such 'flashy' coloring.
The silkies are really neat. Not sure I'd want a goat who needs more grooming than my dogs though. lol

Jubilee is just precious!

CaliannG 10/10/12 09:54 AM

Oh such beautiful goats! I see pygmies, Lamancha, Silkies, even a Toggenburg and I think an Oberhasli!

But Minelson, where are the Alpines? Surely you took pictures of Alpines for me, didn't you? ~gets a big-eyed, pleading look~

And I declare Jubilee to be the second most darling baby on the planet, right after my granddaughter! She is so.....

~THUNK!~

CaliannG 10/10/12 09:56 AM

And Saanens! And more pictures of Jubil.....

~THUNK!~

Minelson 10/10/12 10:04 AM

The one on the left is a Toggenburg. I *think* the ones on the right are Oberhaslis? Am I correct in that, Minelson?

CaliannG 10/10/12 10:47 AM

Oberhaslis and Alpines look a lot alike, but Obers have that bay coloring, or black.

WE will have to ask Gena...she knows EVERYTHING!!! She should be a judge. She would say something about a goat's confirmation to me and then a few minutes later the judge would say the exact same thing about the goat. It was very impressive! :)

Did you meet Jen Schurman from Nebraska? I don't know if she took her Silkies or not but she took at least one goat. Jen uses Silkies and small Myotonics for a 4-H shut-in visitation program she leads. What a nice person!

A "silky" originated from a cross between Myotonics (Fainters) and Nigerian Dwarfs. You should see those COATS!

I believe the one you think is a Togg is actually a Sable. The only way to tell the apart sometimes is to look at their PAPERS.

There weren't any Toggs there that I saw. None showed anyway.

Wow! Great pics! Looks like you guys had a fabulous time. So glad I'm not on dial up ant more, and I could "Oooh! and Ahhh!" at the lovely pics. Gena, did you sneak Monkey away from there for me???

BethW 10/10/12 07:15 PM

OH MY. If goats are crack, this is like the ultimate Crack Convention.

I would have given so much to go. But maybe it's just as well I didn't. I can barely handle the awesomeness that are these pictures.

Min, why was poor Coach so grubby? He's a darling:)

wintrrwolf 10/10/12 08:18 PM

oh man only one shot of nubians??? Way to many cute little goats :)
Love love the baby pics

ani's ark 10/10/12 08:39 PM

Yes, I liked Coach a lot too - he just radiates personality, and dirt. Perhaps being grubby adds to his rakish charm.

Backfourty,MI. 10/10/12 08:40 PM

Great pictures all of them. There are so many cute pictures of goats I wouldn't be able to pick a favorite but Jubilee is a living Doll for sure.

I know a breeder that was showing mini silky fainters there. Her 1st Grand champion Bling was the goat that the Expo used in their full page magazine ad this year. Her name is Jackie Pegg from Flying J Fainters. I know she was taking quite a few of her goats but haven't heard how she did yet. We actually got our wether Bently from her.

Here is the link with her goat Bling in the magazine ad for the Goat Expo.

Those T shirts are so cute Minelson.

Ford Zoo 10/10/12 08:45 PM

A goat expo is definately on my bucket list! But I'm curious too, why did Coach show so dirty? and how did he do?

Those silkies are handsome for sure, but too high maintenence for me...

Jubilee is a darling!! Glad you gals had a good time:)

I asked the same thing...Something about needing a certain amount of goats??? He was just a stand in or something??? I don't recall him getting any ribbons ;) They had another buckling that was all shave up and looking gorgeous in the ring.

Shygal 10/11/12 06:25 AM

Ok I need this. Need. Want.

Awesome job on the pics Minelson! I'm glad ya had a great time! Jubilee is sooo cute!!!

I bet they were just filling classes with Coach so that the required number would be in there so they can count the class.

Thanks again for taking us all to the Expo!

I believe I was talking to her last evening. She said they had come with 9 to "finish" and they finished 5. (A finished champion in most registries has to be chosen Grand Champion in 3 different shows by 3 different judges.) So I think they did well...:goodjob:

I won't probably get a chance to talk to her until the weekend or 1st of next week so thanks for the update. I'll ask her if she remembers talking to a lady holding an adorable baby with tons of hair.

SilverFlame819 10/12/12 01:58 AM

I am not a fan of fainters, but those Silkies are sooooooooo cute!!

Now I'm getting crazy thoughts about having a mini milking herd of long-haired critters.

JBarGFarmKeeper 10/12/12 02:16 AM

We've made it home. (I came in to a mess, too, Minelson. Do they do this so we feel needed? I don't like it either way.) And here I sit at 2 a.m. because I can't go to sleep....
