I am just not going to bother drying her up to even once a day. she was just toooo full this morning, I am sure I'm borrowing trouble if I kept trying. she is in raging heat right now and I think in the morning, if she's still willing, I'll let her in with Louie. she wouldn't come in the barn tonight at all, so I'll go out earlier in the morning.

I am considering, since my feed is out of my way, to check at least one bag when I pick up. I'll bring duct tape to close it back up, but it'd sure be better than this mess!

I checked the calf creep and blah, I don't even want it. oh well. and oh yes, if my feed doesn't look fit to eat myself, I will no longer bring it home!!

I would just go with the oats myself or even the horse mix. That way you can feed everyone the same thing. As long as the horse mix isn't covered in molasses it should be fine. A little bit of cracked corn is not going to hurt them. It is the large ammounts that hurt them. Infact corn is one of the main ingredients in most processed feeds. Look at your feed tags.

I have a feed recipe that I have been using for 12 plus years that I got off a lady who bred beautiful milky nubians and had many GCH does. Always healthy and very minimal to no kidding problems. I have tried MANY different kinds of feed and I have never had the good results with them that I have with the original feed mix I use. I know of at least 3 breeders here in IN that still use it and swear buy it.
It's equal parts oats and cracked corn. Kent Provider 38 dairy pellet, Gold cote oil (which is just a high calorie cherry flavored oil) and a tiny bit of molasses. That's it. I feed alfalfa hay, free choice loose minerals and use the grain mix for kids, bucks, milkers and bred does. They love it and look great.

But for you, straight oats with some BOSS and alfalfa hay or pellets and free choice loose mineral might be the easiest and most economical way to go. You could even feed your horses straight oats with some Boss or a little corn oil for their fat and the same loose mineral you give your goats should be fine for your horses.
