I am pathetic...
I have been so tired for so long, am just tired of being tired ya know!!
Well my mother watches Dr. Oz and he actually did a show on women and exhaustion and come to find out its a mineral deficiency of magnesium. MY first thought was to go out and snack on some of my goat minerals LOL according to DR. Oz WE need to be taking in a magnesium dose 5 times a day and again MY first thought was "holy cow am I glad I don't have to give my goats copper 5 times a day" he also said that we lose magnesium in our urine faster then we replenish it which is why it causes a deficiency MY first thought was "Wonder how much of the minerals I give my girls are pee'd back out? I am pathetic.... BTW one dose of needed magnesium would amount to 2 banana's or 1 cup of shredded wheat or 2 slices of wheat toast, or 1 cup of red kidney beans, or 1 cup of black beans...there was something else but my brain is to tired to remember. |
Have you thought about checking in with your doctor about your fatigue. Not sure what your age is but if you are premenopausal or menopausal you have so many things going on with hormone changes and stuff. Heck, even if you stick are cycling you could be anemic......which would cause you to be fatigued. There are so many things it's hard to know where to start. But the first thing you need to do is make an appointment with your doctor and tell him your problem. Extreme fatigue is a redflag that needs attention...Let your doctor help you or at least rule out some of the big bad things.
Who is gonna take care of all the critters if you can't? From one tired puppy to another......... |
I went through a period of being what I called "tired." About 4 years worth. But in actuality there were three different things going on.
1) I ran out of energy to move my muscles- I had to sit and rest every 30 feet or so just to feel I could get into the house. 2) I got very sleepy- if I sat down, I fell asleep. 3) I dreaded even thinking about doing any activity- this one was pretty vague. To me all those things were just part of being "tired." But as I started taking large doses of vitamin D. I stopped falling asleep. A year later, I had parathyroid surgery, and voila, I didn't run out of gas while walking any more. A year after that I stopped taking high blood pressure medication and I started wanting, actually wanting to get up and do things. My point to this long story is that "tired" to a doctor may not be what "tired" is to you. I did not realize that it was not just all one package of "tired"- it actually was three seperate things- all fixable with the right diagnosis. I agree with CJBegins- if you can, a mineral panel (or the human version) might be a good place to start. Just so you know. Although a banana certainly would not hurt anything........... :) |
Overly tired very easily was the only real symptom I've had,for the last couple of years...... that and muscles that were so sore...that any activity made them cramp and ache.....was this all related to the mass that was in my temporal lobe? guess only time and recovery will tell..it all. and on. so slowly and I could always come up with something else it could be.... just a couple week before the bleed I was on line looking up symptoms for MS!!!. so, while I was wrong about what was going on....I knew something wasn't quite right!

We can absorb magnesium from an Epsom salt bath too! The lavender scented is really really nice, or just add a few drops of lavender EO to a plain Epsom bath.
Light some candles, grab a good book, take along a glass of your favorite beverage and have a glorious long soak. While you're soaking in that tub, maybe have a little think about being nicer to yourself! How tired and defeated would it make you if a friend or partner called you pathetic all the time? We have to lift ourselves up as well as all other people (and critters) we make happy! |
We need Replamin Gel for people. :D Maybe chocolate flavored?
|
I would love some human Replamin... chocolate or not. I have zero energy. The medicos tell me it's fibro, but heck... if so many people have "fibro" why can't they come up with a treatment?
So frustrated today, b/c even typing is tiring. Wintrrwolf, you have my sympathy. |

So take some there is mothing to hurt you. I have used animal antibiotics on myself.
|
I've been known to take a pinch of Onyx too. Sometimes it tastes good so I figure my body must need it. Sometimes it's yuck and I spit it out. I figure if the goats know when they need it I should follow my instincts. I'm almost as smart as a goat.
You could try some maca. it's been known to help with fatigue. |
Its all about water soluble vitamins and minerals. Your body can store vitamins like vitamin D, it stores it up and uses it with calcium. vitamins like C however, your body doesn't store any extra. If your body only needs 100 mg, and you take 500mg, you are going to pee the rest of it--that 400mg-- right out. Thats why its better to take a daily multivitamin to prevent the deficiency, rather than (for example) taking a 1000mg vitamin C tablet because you have a cold. Just some info.
Now just wondering, would Replamin be harmful to humans? |
Be very, very careful with animal antibiotics. Some like Micotil can kill you.:(:(

But it must work for some folks, or else we wouldn't have read that it does help. Each of us is a different little snowflake. :happy2: |
Maca?

OOOps didn't mean for this post to be off topic...I was feeling pathetic cause everytime Dr. OZ suggested something I thought of my goats, the stuff I give them and their silly reactions hehe
BUT am curious to ask... has anyone here ever been at that point of falling asleep or even asleep and then suddenly get woke up by what felt like a zap go through your whole body as if you touched a hot wire fence? Its happened to me twice now in the last week or so a rather rude awakening. I am still waiting for my insurance to kick in at my new job and I know some of the tiredness is from getting up at 430 in the morning to go drive school bus. Last time I went to doctor bout 3 years ago and told him how tired I was feeling all the time, it was pretty much shrugged off, bone/joint aches (neck bones that grind) am told is old age, charley horses probable not enough calcium right? I feel bad saying anything here at home because my mother just went kemo, half a lung removed, a heart surgery and she has other pains that the doctors can't fix. The one thing that brings me pleasure and some peace is taking care of my critters and just sitting with them especially my goats and I haven't been able to do that for a little while because of the schedule at work and what my mom wants me to do here. eeeak I am starting to sound like a whiny kid LOL |
~raises her hand~ I get those "jolts" all the time when I am asleep or trying to fall asleep, like my whole body decided to jerk all at once.
~ponders~ I have had those for the last...~thinks~... uhhhh....~ponders~...ummm, I guess early to mid 30's? Something like that? I have PTSD, which leads to insomnia and difficulty sleeping, which tends to make me more sleep deprived, which leads to depression, which leads to.... Terrible, viscious cycle, and my doctors and I have been trying for YEARS to find something that will A) help me get to sleep and B) won't make me useless the next day. (Yes, I have tried every herbal remedy known to mankind, and half of the chemical remedies. Chamomile and valerian doesn't touch my mental disorders, and they just laugh at catnip or sleeping pills) I just thought those jolts were side effects of PTSD, sleep deprivation, or, perhaps, the stroke I had. Didn't think to mention it to a doctor. ~wry face~ |
Look up hypnagogic myoclonic twitch- it happens to a lot of people. When my mom had a head injury and spent a lot of time not quite awake, she went through a bout of it on a regular basis but I think it is nothing to worry about except as a sign you might not be sleeping well.
|
I get the jolts too and this thing where if I wake up too fast while I'm dreaming, my mind doesn't get everything put away. So, sometimes there is really cool stuff all over the room. I always though the jolt was my nervous system kicking back when it had just been disconnected. I don't move period when I'm sleeping so, I disconnect really well.
I once took a tablespoon a day of Red Cell for a week. I tend to run anemic and I wanted to donate blood. It worked great, tasted awful, but I got to donate. |

I get those jolts that wake me up while sleeping and it's a panic attack. Anxiety/panic is very very draining. I wonder if maybe you are having something like that....(((hugs)))
|
I definitely think adding the dose of banana's to my diet would be good I have been waking up to Charley horses too and those truly suck legs hurts like a bruise for days after. But if all I add is banana's that would be... 10 banana's a day!!
I can't do the Epsom salt I break out in a rash well at least the lavender scented one lol was a sight to NOT see. Anyways glad to know am not alone in weird sleep happenings. |
I get those jolts, too. I know Mom did as well.
Right now, nightmares and waking up at 3:14 AM are my night time issues. I'd love to sleep all night and not have an anxiety riddled dream. :( If I start on the Replamin, will my hair fall out and come back in like kitten fur? :) |
Hmmmm, I wonder what Replamin would taste like mixed with some cajeta and drizzled on apple slices?
|
Gak. I just took a dose. Tastes like kale.
|
Well Alice! That's why they COAT vitamin pills, otherwise they taste like yeast!
Hmmm, tastes like Kale? Maybe mix it into cole slaw? |
